Links in bio for full video and for more details on the debut of the Process 246 From Kona: There’s a part of us that wants kids to know the jolt of an unapologetic huck to flat on a rigid, creaky, second-hand bike. Character building, right? But isn’t the whole point of the next generation to set them up better than we had it? The trails are better. The kids are better. And now the bikes are better too. Introducing the Process 246 – a ripping mini-mullet with 120mm of travel and a flip chip for growing riders. This little bike apple falls from a family tree with killer geo and handling – The Process. The result is a bouncing burly bike built to keep up with the progression at the rate kids are actually riding. Here to show us how it’s done: seven-year-old Gavin Gutierrez. Yes, seven. Gavin loves to ride every day. Whether it’s racing, steezing jumps, or just cruising, you can find him lapping his local trails with his dad, Evan. It certainly helps that his local trail system is Galbraith Mountain (and Bellingham in general). After jumping on the Process 246, Gavin has unlocked new features and new confidence on the bike. We’re looking forward to watching him grow up. The best thing (and the worst thing) about mountain biking is that every component of the bike is replaceable 🫠 Today marked a huge milestone in the lifespan of any @konabikes Process 246 - the day he upgraded to a 26” custom built @hopetech x @dtswiss rear wheel! The past 2+ years on a 24” micro mullet helped unlock terrain and skills I did not know were possible for 6, 7 & 8-year-olds. With the flip chip and a new larger rear wheel, Gavin can easily ride this until he is 9 and a half years old. Now if only all the components could last that long too 😅 Philosophical question for @fanatikbikeco - after replacing how many parts on the bike, would you consider it a new bike altogether?
