Guilford County Veterans Services invites veterans, community organizations, and residents to attend an upcoming listening/information session to learn about ways to enhance community engagement and formalize governance opportunities in support of Guilford County veterans and key stakeholders. The community listening/information session will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension โ€“ Guilford County Center, 3309 Burlington Road, Greensboro. The session will provide an overview of county and community-led engagement and governance opportunities and welcome feedback from community stakeholders. Hagan-Stone Park remains closed to the public due to significant storm damage caused by severe weather in September. We know many community members are eager to return to the park, and we appreciate your continued patience and concern. The safety of our visitors and staff remains our top priority as we work through the recovery process. At this time, there is no estimated date for the park to reopen. Guilford County Parks and Recreation staff continue to assess the damage and are working to secure a contractor to assist with cleanup and restoration efforts. We understand the closure has affected reservations and planned visits, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to safely restore and reopen the park. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to explore our other parks and outdoor spaces, including six other regional parks and more than 60 miles of trails and greenways. Support Local Farmers AND those in need of food!โ€‹ NC Cooperative Extension - Guilford County Center has launched a Donation Station Program in partnership with the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market and Greensboro Parks and Recreation. Here's how it works:โ€‹ Every Tuesday evening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Greensboro Farmers Curb market (501 Yanceyville St., Greensboro) customers will have the opportunity to buy fresh local produce from local farmers and then donate it directly to the Donation Station table. Those donations will be distributed to food pantries at targeted community centers across Greensboro. โ€‹ The program runs every Tuesday evening until Tuesday, Oct. 27.
