A birthday weekend filled with some of my favourite things. Great food around the table, a few very special bottles opened, afternoon tea and plenty of time spent with the family. Good food, good wine and even better company. A lovely way to celebrate another year and make a few more memories along the way. by @guille_oflaherty

Happy birthday to the most amazing person, the best mother, a wonderful wife and, of course, the finest champagne drinker.

You are the backbone of our family, its heart and definitely its brains. William and I could not be luckier to have you in our lives.

We love you more than words can say. Happy birthday! ❤️🥂 xxxx by @guille_oflaherty

I came to England as an Argentine immigrant and ended up marrying a beautiful English woman. Life then blessed us with the greatest gift of all, William.

In 2022 he was too young to understand what the World Cup meant. This time was different.

I never pushed him. He was free to choose. He could support England or Argentina. There was never any pressure from me.

For reasons I can only put down to DNA and whatever force in the universe connects us to where we come from, he chose Argentina.

After an incredible battle against a fantastic England side in the semifinal, we are now through to the final against Spain.

That has given me the chance to start telling him the stories I grew up with. The stories of how we defeated the British invasions in 1806 and 1807, and how we declared our independence from Spain in 1816.

Football has once again done something that is impossible to explain. It has created memories, strengthened our bond, and connected generations.

Thank you, football.

Thank you, God, for letting me be born in the best country in the world.

As we say back home:

“Los argentinos nacemos donde queremos.”

“Argentinians are born wherever we want.” 🇦🇷💙 by @guille_oflaherty

Rainy Saturday sorted, Opened the Knipser Mandelpfad Riesling GG 2021 from the Pfalz and it did not disappoint. Bone dry, super crisp with this beautiful mineral thing going on and a finish that just keeps going. Decanted it for a bit which really opened it up. One of those bottles that makes a grey afternoon feel very civilised. by @guille_oflaherty

2000, arguably the greatest Bordeaux vintage of our generation. 26 years in the bottle and Léoville Barton is still going strong. Opened this one tonight and it did not disappoint. #SaintJulien #Bordeaux #LéovilleBarton by @guille_oflaherty
