What Happened is out!

About 5 months ago Skye and I vowed to each other that we would touch an instrument everyday until we saw each other again. In that time I wrote What Happened and so many things started falling into place. This session and post-prod process was life changing in a big way. I’ve never felt more supported and respected by a group of musicians who also just so happen to be some of my favorite musicians ever. I trusted them whole heartedly with this little piece of my soul and I would do it over and over and over again. I’m so inspired and so unbelievably grateful for these people.

Been feeling grey lately. The scaffolding of responsibility has been keeping me up when I’ve otherwise wanted to lay rubble. But an amazing thing happens when people come together in community. In my experience it tends to lead to music, whether that be the initial reason to gather or not. This Saturday night it was. I met some wonderful artists and got to lose myself in emotional music. We served up a little bit of drama and boy did that serve me. My color is returning. The grey has turned into the blues and I welcome those feelings because there’s motion in the blues. Thank you so much Rashad @atabajaway for sharing the stage your AWESOME band and to all the other FABULOUS guest soloists. And thank you @jalopybrooklyn for being a social and musical sanctuary for me through this difficult winter and beyond. I’m big time stoked that I got to play for the first time since moving here on that stage. And I’m thankful for Ray Charles for his music. It was an honor to sing this tune on this stage with this community of artists. This was really fun. Thanks for bringing my color back.

About 5 or 6 days ago @kyrajohannesen asked if I wanted to perform in a @bodyandpole fundraising event for @immdefense
DUH! 😝
Last night was incredible. A diverse group of athletes with a diverse range of expression bravely performed their last minute acts all under the alignment of love and empowerment. Everyone was hawt and beautiful and inspiring. And @sydney_kalish was the perfect host. Thank you team for lighting me up with your phones when my planned snotty lighting didn’t work out. I feel honored and humbled to be a part of this amazing Body and Pole team. This was an epic start to the journey.
Fuck Donald Trump. Abolish ICE. Talk to your neighbors. Elect women.

Topanga days download…

The sun kissed my skin in some places and burnt it in others, and so the weekend went. Saturday was amazing. A petite crowd of family, a victory, and loads of dancing. Sunday was mellow but not restful, anticipating the next day. Monday loomed. The morning was crisp and the crowd was lovely but the energy felt constipated. Everyone was beautiful, including the weather but I could not shake the weight in my chest. Weird. Anyway, my friends are incredible. I love my community so much. The corral stage was the fullest I had ever seen it before and the music was epic. Good music transcends all ickiness, at least in my experience. I had THE BEST time singing with @luketylershelton @huntswatts @caseynunes @tristan_lake_leabu @debourbon @calebgnomes
A life highlight.
I’m happy Tdays has passed and I look forward to next year.

Ok y’all… we were on NPR tonight suckas! Keith Shortall with Maine public radio really crushed it with this one. He came in and recorded some of our 3rd rehearsal yesterday and we go on tomorrow!! I’m so honored to be apart of this. Micheal Gorman wrote an incredibly poetic, poignant, and important piece and joe Battista is doing a hell of a job pulling this cast and band together just days in advance. I’ll go more into detail once the storm rolls over and all is calm but I tell ya what, Augusta Maine won’t know what hit em. Stoked. Here is the NPR segment from tonight 🎭 by @guppyscramble
