I did not get many photos yesterday as @wanderlifewithlil and I tried to get around to everyone to say goodbye. A huge thank you for coming and making the day special for Leanne and I. We look forward to catching up with you all soon, either in Bright or when we come home to Brisbane to visit 🤗 🤗 by @gusthetrailrunner

Nana Dot 20/03/1921 - 11/10/26

105 amazing years, amazing stories and just a joy to have as my Nana. You will be missed by us all but I know you are in a better place now and will be telling Mick to turn the races down already.

Miss you already but thank you 🙏 for being you. Letters from the Queen and the King, not many will be able to say they got those. Love you and miss you xoxo 💔 by @gusthetrailrunner

Big News Day !!!

Our investment property settled which meant that @wanderlifewithlil and I could sign the contract on our new forever home down in Bright, Victoria.

Yes you read right, we are moving to the Victorian High Country and could not be more excited. Here’s some pics of the new house, just got to get through finance and then a longish settlement period and we will be Victorians (always a Qlder)

We have some big plans but for now this is stage 1 and we cannot wait to escape the rat race and start to slow down a little. taken in Bright, Victoria by @gusthetrailrunner

Four Years of the Trail Running 2032 Campaign: Navigating the Mountains Behind the Scenes

Four years ago this month, fresh off the trails of the Western States Endurance Run, and inspired by conversations with some of our sport's truest stalwarts, we launched the Trail Running 2032 (TR2032) campaign. The vision was bold: to bring trail running to the global stage, in Brisbane.

Since June 2022, we’ve crossed some incredible checkpoints. We’ve elevated and progressed the discussion globally alongside brilliant partners at @trailrunningqld, @itra_trail, @wmramountainrun and @iau_ultrarunning.

But if you’ve ever run an trail, mountain or ultra endurance race, you know the terrain changes.

The last eight months in particular have been a rollercoaster of immense support and deep challenge. To be completely transparent and skip the sugarcoating: we haven’t achieved our next major checkpoint, and it is most likely we won't by the end of 2026 as planned.

A Failed Goal, But a Learning Opportunity.

In endurance sports, a missed split or an unexpected event isn't the end of the race; it's data. It's a learning opportunity.

Trying to navigate the "mountains" of a highly complex, politically charged sporting environment to achieve something that has never been done before is a massive undertaking.

Where we stand right now: Our team is still pushing on, but a significant portion of the process is currently far outside our sphere of control. The behind-the-scenes processes need to play out, and the right stakeholders need to come together to make the definitive decisions.

The Race Isn't Over.

We aren't done yet. We will continue to push forward where and when we can, even if our updates are a bit quieter for a while.

To everyone who has backed TR2032 over the last four years: thank you. This has been an incredible adventure of personal and collective growth, learning, and resilience.

You will hear from us again, either when the next mountain is ready to be run up, or when we’ve gone as far as humanly possible. Until then, see you on the trails. 🌲🏃‍♂️

Never too late but a week on and the memories are still there. A weekend at the Blueys with my trail family.

This one was fun as I’d actually trained for the downs and ups and a 10 minute PB in the same 22km course as when I last ran UTA in 2018, shows it paid off. We started Thursday’s with check in, an expo visit and then watched Leanne do UTA11. Very proud of her with her knees still giving her grief and the stairs would have not helped.

Friday was race day. Gary had a cracker race and left me for dead. Was so good to see many friends out on course and at the finish line, catching up afterwards. We then headed out to crew Zoe, but Team Meathead fuelled up first. Unfortunately today was not Zoe’s day. Huge shoutout to elite crew who were planning to pace her @jessjason @maddi_odonnell @benduffus. Another day @zoec.manning

Saturday was spent hanging out at the finish line watching friends running in the big screen and watching them finish. Had some amazing chats re Australian trail running and its future, and saw some awesome results.

A huge thanks to @coachg.runs and Ana for hosting @wanderlifewithlil and I. We will be back so book us in for 2027. Till then see you all at the next race by @gusthetrailrunner

An absolutely stunning AirBnB this one and makes everything so accessible in the Adelaide Hills. A quite little town but with a great pub, an amazing @spaghettiheadadl restaurant, and just a quiet peaceful setting to relax @aldgatecreekbnb with @wanderlifewithlil by @gusthetrailrunner
