This is so crazy! It’s been 1 year since we arrived in Africa!! Every day we’re living our dream and we’re just so happy and grateful to be able to live such a road trip ! ✨

We also wanted to take a moment to thank you for following us, writing to us, supporting us and sharing your recos. We’ve met so many people: travellers and locals, who have made our journey truly unforgettable. Without them, our adventure wouldn’t have been the same 🫶🏼

We are MG & Alex and we’re both Belgian 🇧🇪 We have barely introduced ourselves on Instagram and quite a few of you have already been following our adventures for already one year. We think it’s time to share a bit more about us!

Heyyy, it’s Marie-Garance here, aka MG. Cruising through 26, I studied psychology and then worked for 3 year in a payroll office in Brussels. April 2023 marked my grand exit: resigning for the first time to kick off this epic journey with my partner 🌍 Passionate about cooking, I’m all about that free spirit vibe in the kitchen. Chop some veggies & let the magic happen, is my kind of relaxation👩‍🍳 Coordination might not be my forte, so welcome to my world of minor mishaps 🤕 or as Bob Ross ones said «We don’t make mistakes, we have happy accidents». The dream of hitting the road in a vehicle has been a constant daydream since university and guess what? I’m living it! 🚐✨

Heyyy, it’s Alex, or Alexandre if we’re going formal! 🌟 Riding the 28 year and I spent 7 years navigating the real estate world before deciding to spice things up with this journey. Back in Belgium, my Sunday routine was all about hockey matches and beers with the team (@wolologram 😘) on the club terrace🏑🍻 On a serious note, our weekends were also all about transforming the Defender. I’m the handyman in charge of all things DIY🛠️

A dream comes true: our adventure across Africa with a Land Rover Defender 🌍🚙🏕️

Today we're sharing with you the project we've been working so hard on! In 2 weeks, our long awaited journey begins: a 2 year tour of Africa in a Defender! This lon awaited dream is finally about to begin.

Over the past 2 years, we have spent a great part of our time transforming our Gust into a home on wheels, offering all the comforts needed to live this incredible experience.
Our Defender will become our traveling companion, taking us through the most remote landscapes and corners of Africa.

This trip is much more than just an adventure, we have decided to leave our respective jobs to grab this unique opportunity and live every moment of our journey to the fullest.
We're too excited to meet the fascinating cultures, inspiring people and wild animals that inhabit these diverse lands ✨☀️

We hope to share these precious moments with you throughout our journey, through our posts and stories on Instagram.

We invite you to join us on this unforgettable adventure by following us and feel free to share your suggestions in the comments.

300 000 km on the clock… huge milestone for our Gust wooohppp 🎉

Which means we personally drove the last 100 000 kilometers, including 75 000 across Africa 🌍
Thousands of kilometers of roads, tracks, potholes and dust.
Weird noises, suspicious vibrations and a few breakdown moments along the way.
Waves to people on the roadside, endless little scenes of life and landscapes we’ll never forget!

An incredible collection of memories and that feeling of freedom we love so much! 😍✨

A few more kilometers traveled together and a Moroccan desert far more surprising than we expected. Between sandstorms, endless plains, mountains, riverbeds still filled with water and muddy tracks, every moment around Lac Iriki felt like something special. When we tell you that Morocco is incredibly diverse!!
A few hundred kilometers further and 2000 meters higher, we suddenly find ourself surrounded by walls of snow over 2 meters high! 😮
