Road to Japan: Training Day. The clock always wins and my cardio files a formal complaint. 😅🥋

Another great week of training with just over 7 weeks to go. A friendly reminder that in December I’ll be in Japan competing at the IBJJF Asian Masters Championship, representing QuanWessels and South Africa. 🇿🇦🇯🇵

Want to support the journey? Send me a DM. Every bit means a lot. 🙏

No coaches were harmed in the making of this video…

But for real, that was a great day on the mats celebrating the kids and teens leveling up to their new belts.

Sometimes you need to let them experiment to see how things connect.

Techniques are just isolated moves until a kid starts chaining them together on his own. Watch Taye (12) flow from an omoplata sweep to side control, top spin, and armbar.

DM if you are looking for BJJ coaching for adults and youth.

Khai and Guy learn to tie their belts.

There are much fancier ways, but everyone has to learn how to tie their belt at some point.

Japan is calling. 🇯🇵🥋

From 3–6 December 2026, I’ll be in Nagoya competing at the IBJJF Asian Masters Jiu-Jitsu Championship, and I’ll also be in the corner coaching our QuanWessels athletes.

Getting to the other side of the world isn’t cheap. Flights, accommodation, entry fees and travel all add up, and I’d love to take my community with me on this one.

If you’ve trained with me, rolled with me, or just cheered us on from the sidelines, any support means the world. Every contribution, big or small, gets me and the team closer to that mat.

💬 To contribute or sponsor, message me directly or call/WhatsApp +27 72 397 3577.

And if you can’t contribute, sharing this post helps just as much. Thank you for backing me. 🙏

WHAT MAKES BJJ DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SPORTS? 🥋🧠

You're not just moving.

You're listening.
You're problem-solving.
You're adapting.
You're making decisions.

And you're doing it all while someone is actively trying to stop you.

In this clip from Raising Champions, Amie Stewart explains why she sees BJJ as such a unique environment for children's development.

Train the body. Train the brain.

🥋❤️ And just like that… the 2025/2026 Jiu-Jitsu season comes to an end.

What a beautiful season it has been. A season filled with growth, discipline, determination, friendships, challenges, and so many moments that have made us incredibly proud.

At just six years old, his passion for Jiu-Jitsu and his determination to keep learning continue to amaze us. Watching him grow — not only in his skills, but in his confidence, resilience, focus and understanding of the sport — has been such a privilege.

A very special thank you to coach @guyjitsu_ and @quanwessels for creating and providing this incredible platform for these young athletes. The time, dedication and environment you create give these children so much more than just a place to train. You give them an opportunity to learn, grow, challenge themselves and build friendships that become incredibly special. 🥋❤️

And those friendships… 🥹
Watching these little warriors train together, push each other, encourage one another and share in each other’s highs and lows has been one of the most beautiful parts of this journey. There is such a unique bond between them, and we are so grateful that he gets to grow alongside such an amazing group of kids.

We are beyond proud of you, little warrior. ❤️

Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep pushing yourself. Keep loving the sport.

One season ends, but the journey continues. 🥋🔥

Here’s to the next season — more growth, more memories, more friendships and, of course… more hard work.

The hard work doesn’t stop here. 💪🏼🥋❤️
