I’ve never been fascinated by titles.

I’ve been fascinated by what happens after people receive them.

Throughout my career, I found myself asking the same question:

What changes once someone becomes “the leader”?

Eventually, I realized I had been asking the wrong question.

The better question was this:

Who are the people already leading without a title?

This carousel is the visual companion to the first issue in The Untitled Leader, a series exploring human leadership, moral courage, and the responsibility we carry for one another.

Who has been an untitled leader in your life?

I didn’t go to #SHMConverge26 to talk about burnout.
I went to talk about power.

Burnout is not the problem.
It’s the signal.

A signal that our systems are misaligned with our values.
And the answer isn’t to become more resilient
it’s to have the courage to change what’s broken.

We have to stop asking:
“How do we survive this system?”

And start asking:
“How do we redesign it?”

Because the future of healthcare won’t be determined by how much we can endure
but by what we are willing to change.

One of the best parts of @wimedicineorg?

The women ❤️

So grateful for the incredible women I met, reconnected with, learned from, laughed with, hugged, and celebrated with at the Summit last week.

Some I’ve known for years. Some I knew only through their work. And some walked into my life for the very first time in Chicago.

And that’s one of my favorite things about gatherings like this, the unexpected conversations and connections that stay with you long after everyone goes home.

These are just some of the women who made the weekend so special.

We are women on a mission.

Until next time ❤️🙌🏾💯💯❤️

Some experiences stay with you long after you leave the room. ❤️

I came to the Women in Medicine Summit ready to learn, contribute, connect, and take the stage.

I left thinking about something bigger.

About what happens when women find one another.

We challenge each other.
We celebrate each other.
We make each other think bigger.

And sometimes, we expand what another woman believes is possible for herself.

That is the kind of community I want more of in medicine and in society.

To @wimedicineorg, thank you for creating a space where women physicians can bring their ideas, their ambition, their questions, their joyc, and their whole selves into the room.

And to the incredible women I learned from, laughed with, hugged, reconnected with, and met for the very first time: you made this an unforgettable and inspiring weekend ❤️

The women before us opened doors.

May the women behind us inherit a different room.

We belong.
We build.
We change what’s possible.

Crisis does not create leadership capacity on demand. It reveals what we have practiced.

This weekend, I had the privilege of taking the stage at the @wimedicineorg Summit to present Crisis Leadership, Reimagined: Leading with Power, Compassion, and Moral Courage.

I built this talk around a question that has followed me through some of the most difficult moments of leadership:

What must a leader be able to access when the stakes are highest?

That is why crisis leadership cannot begin with strategy.

It begins with regulation.

I introduced S.T.E.A.D.Y.™, a framework for navigating those moments:

We cannot rehearse every crisis.

But we can rehearse who we intend to be when it arrives.

I’m deeply grateful to Women in Medicine and @shikhajainmd for creating a space where women physicians can learn from one another, challenge one another, celebrate one another, and lift one another as we rise ❤️

Stay human. See clearly. Act wisely.

Be the leader the moment can trust.
