Not every punch should travel the same way.

Some punches are pushed through. Some are pulled. Some are twisted, punched across, brought upward, or looped over and around.

Your body has to be able to hinge, rotate, twist, and transfer force through different parts of the kinetic chain to create different punches and different types of power.

The goal isn’t to muscle every punch. It’s to understand how your body moves and let the kinetic chain do the work.

This is why shadowboxing is so much more than just throwing punches in the air.

When doing mitt work, you want to build trained fighting reflexes, not panicked reactions.

If you’re really working muscle memory and reactions, you have to surprise your boxer. Throw counters they aren’t expecting and see if they can react, stay composed, and fall back on what they’ve trained.

A lot of the combinations you see us do are actually small sequences we’ve already drilled and memorized, all chained together.

The goal isn’t to memorize a dance. It’s to build reactions that show up when things get chaotic.

A missed punch can still create the perfect opening. đŸ„Š

Ryan Garcia’s knockout this weekend is a great example of why we stress balance and staying on your base.

He missed, transferred the energy to one side, framed off it, and used that movement to fire back from the other side.

He didn’t panic. He didn’t fall out of position.

He turned a miss into a counter.

That’s boxing — being able to make something happen even when the punch doesn’t land.

Did you catch this detail in Ryan’s KO?

Most people try to put the whole puzzle together too early.

Sometimes the best way to improve is to isolate the pieces.

In today’s drill, we’re focusing on the front foot only, while the back foot stays stable and anchored. By isolating movements — front foot working while the back foot supports, then reversing the roles — each part learns its job independently.

Over time, those separate pieces develop a symbiotic relationship. When everything is put back together, the entire kinetic chain works as one: better balance, smoother movement, more power, and greater control.

Master the parts, and the whole becomes effortless. đŸ„Š

What’s more important for boxing: the foot that moves or the foot that stays planted? đŸ„Š

Today’s drill is all about using the back foot as the anchor — keeping us planted, balanced, and ready to counter.

We step with the front foot while pairing every movement with the jab and punches, then add our 60/40 shifts and bends to get in and out of range without actually having to go anywhere.

Small movements. Better position. More control. More opportunities to counter.

How important do you think the back foot is? 👇

Simple drill. Big benefits. đŸ„Š

The Jab Square — forward, backward, left, right, and back to center. Two steps per jab, always stepping with the foot in the direction you’re moving.

It’s a simple drill, but it teaches some of the most important fundamentals: maintaining your stance, moving correctly in every direction, and most importantly, getting comfortable throwing your best punch — the jab — from every angle.

Master the basics and everything else gets easier.

Don’t let your opponent get comfortable with your rhythm. đŸ„Š

In this drill, we’re changing the pace with our feet—using the first two shots to close distance and then BANGING on the third. In the second clip, we add retreating with punches: three punches coming in, one punch per step, then three punches getting back out to safety.

Hands and feet have to work together. Change the rhythm, control the distance, and never move at one speed.

The basics might look cookie cutter, but there’s a reason we drill them. đŸ„Š

Here we’re building off the jab square, pairing every step with a punch to develop hand-foot coordination and teach the body to move as one. First, we establish the skill. Then we take that skill into more realistic scenarios where things aren’t so predictable.

You can’t apply what you haven’t built. Master the basics, then make them functional.

You don’t need 20 combinations to win a fight. đŸ„Š

A sharp jab, straight punches, timing, and DISTANCE can take you a long way. We don’t just mindlessly hit the bag—we treat it like an opponent. Every punch has a purpose, every step has a reason, and every movement is building fight IQ.

Agree or disagree: is a great jab really the most important weapon in boxing? 👇
