It has been a joy, pleasure, and privilege to invite such incredible artists and their work to this year’s Fest en Fest. We’ve loved every minute, from performances and talks to late hangouts, sharing the festival, and experiencing the work together with audiences in Brighton, London, and Colchester.
Like many independent initiatives, we’ve faced challenges, especially around funding. In a world shaped by uncertainty, where many people can’t move freely, gather, or live safely, returning this year with renewed support and a shared commitment to connect felt more meaningful than ever.
Thank you to all the artists and teams who brought such exciting work, and to the audiences who came, watched, shared thoughts, joined discussions, and spent time with us. Your curiosity, generosity, and commitment to experimentation are the heart of Fest en Fest.
Special love to the @rosechoreographicschool cohort, your presence all week gave us the energy to keep going.
This project is about sharing expanded choreographic practices, but also about gathering, exchanging, and thinking together with care and critique, building structures that last beyond the festival days.

We had a great time hosting Fest en Fest x Undiscipined at South East Dance this weekend. A huge thanks to the festival team, South East Dance staff, the brilliant artists and wonderful audiences we had over the weekend ❤️‍🔥

Now on to the install at APT Gallery for the London leg of the festival. Only a handful of tickets left for the opening tomorrow night! See you there.

Fest en Fest 2026 Introduces: Mette Edvardsen and Jeroen Peters with Augusto Corrieri

Varamo Press embraces the unexpected and values the arbitrary circumstances in which writing comes into being. Snatching, wording, printing, it gives a paper form to various kinds of literature that have a fleeting life elsewhere.

The editors of Varamo Press, Mette Edvardsen and Jeroen Peeters, will share in conversation how and why they do what they do. How they imagine and realize publications, gradually building a catalogue in the process. And how these editorial questions intersect with their own artistic and writerly practices.

On this occasion, the artist and writer Augusto Corrieri will join them for the launch of Compromised by Magic, a new publication in the gestures essay series. In these writings on the intersection of theatre, ecology, magic and darkness, Corrieri unearths forms of knowledge and attention repressed by Western modernity in order to explore ‘particular modes of attending to worldly things – modes of attending that value impossibility, multiplicity, drift, impermanence and dislocation, that hold dear the importance of the un-seen, the un-extracted, the un-consumed. There are things not meant for human eyes.

Double Bill: Looping Practice #3 and Sonic Feelding Action #5

SONIC FEELDING ACTION #5 LOREA BURGE

Sonic Feelding engages in a practice of Deep Listening* and explores the body in movement and its interaction with others and space as instruments for creating sound and music. I approach this research as an untrained musician and through both analogue methods (the body on its own) and technological techniques (looping and sampling). With an understanding of performance being a part of research I’ve been presenting snippets in the form of ‘performance actions’ in theatre spaces, galleries, and clubs. Action #5 presents two ideas:

SILENCE MOVES

Sound is everywhere, even in the smallest of things. All it needs is space to appear. My mind is occupied with mobilisation in activism and the impact even the smallest of actions can have over time. The voice of movement will ripple into change.

Jokiniemi returns to Howl- a performance work from 2019, then premiering at Kiasma
Contemporary Art Museum in Helsinki and now re-living its material propositions with a new sound work by Gil Schneider, with whom she has collaborated on later works (ÖH 2020 and ARMO 2023).

Fest en Fest 2026 Introduces: Chisato Minamimura

As a part of our Opening Event featuring Chisato Minamimura, Ann-Christin Kongsness & Marte Sterud, Salaméche, and Aliaskar Abarkas

Deaf for 4’33”
Performance Installation
TUE 24 MARCH, 7PM
APT Gallery

Deaf for 4’33” is a performative installation piece which takes its title from John Cage’s three-movement composition 4’33”. Cage’s famous score instructs the musicians to not play their instruments for the duration of the piece, and instead invites the audience to listen to the sounds in their immediate environment.

This intervention is a recreation of this score from Chisato’s Deaf perspective, offering alternative ways to hear, listen or feel the sounds.

Handy (2026)
The short film Handy is inspired by the queer, iconic choreographer Yvonne Rainer’s minimalist short film Hand Movie from 1966.

✨ You’re warmly invited to the launch of Fest en Fest 2026 ✨

Join us at Siobhan Davies Studios, London on Friday 27 February from 7pm for a convivial evening celebrating this year’s Fest en Fest programme, curated by Hanna Gillgren and Heidi Rustgaard / H2DANCE.

The evening will begin with a short welcome from Hanna and Heidi, offering glimpses into the performances, experiments, and conversations to come during the festival week: 21–22 March in Brighton and 24–29 March in London and Colchester.

From there, the night will unfold into mingling, drinks, music, and informal exchanges… and perhaps even some dancing. 🕺💫
