As a kid, my dad told us the fireworks on the 4th of July were for his birthday. And, of course, I believed him. So every year, (until I learned about American Independence Day) I’d look up at the sky, amazed that the whole world loved MY dad so much they celebrated him in such a grand way.

Still, there’s nothing else I’d rather celebrate today.
