Spent my morning in Newton County shooting portraits for an upcoming edition of Alumnus Magazine and it reminded me I haven’t shared some favorites from our last edition! Lots of science-y projector work these days!
-
The song attached is inspired by what I tell my subjects when we use gels: “any color you like, we can incorporate!” …..and as an excuse to incorporate my music taste into my work. I’m a big classic / psychedelic rock lover.
-
First few slides (and the very last,) are inspired by my brilliant photo friend @chamberlainsmith . Go flip through her work too- you won’t regret it. 📉📸 by @hailstategrace

Had the opportunity to play around in Hand Lab with Dr. Colleen Scott for Alumnus Magazine. Science will never not make me want to explore different angles with gels, and with our subject being centered around heating and cooling, I decided to lean into warmer tones.
-
Dr. Scott developed a self-healing adhesive (pictured on slide 3,) made from bio-based materials that can bond to surfaces like glass, metal, wood and even plastic. It starts as a powder and when heated, the adhesive repairs itself, opening up possibilities for creating stronger, longer-lasting products while reducing waste long term. Her research explores how this unique material could have applications across a range of industries. She’s so cool. Women in STEM forever and ever, amen. 🧪 taken in Hand Chemical Lab by @hailstategrace
