I sewed this dress in 5 hours for a wedding. Bought the fabric for backdrops / my new tapestries! And was testing for a shoot coming up!

It’s been so lovely doing photography again I forgot how much magic it brought in my life and how natural it feels. taken in Cape Town, Western Cape by @hakopike

Muralist. Designer. Dreamer. With weeks of murals, events, exhibitions and a wave of life coming at us - I’ve felt a sense of seeking peace. I cut my hair, took up ceramics again and am trying not to freak out when my body is submerged in cold water. I remember needing to surprise myself all the time, where bungee jumping and paragliding alone were the only solutions. Booking a flight alone to Vietnam, Indonesia or Hong Kong felt safer than staying put and losing myself in painting for 15 hours was easier than speaking to anyone. But now somehow peace managed to creep its way into my life. Perhaps it’s love, or simply getting softer with age. But here I am. Holding onto peace for as long as it will have me ✨🌊 photos by @planetadim 🌊❤️ taken in Cape Town, South Africa, Africa. by @hakopike

Photoshoot slots are open! 🌙

The moment. In every art form I have a certain moment when I know it’s going to be something meaningful. It’s not about being perceived or how the world will absorb it - it’s in my chest.

It feels like the moment a rollercoaster drops and you slightly lose your breath. It feels like the moment before you say I love you. It feels like a gift from source and you can feel the warmth over your head as it happens.

I haven’t felt that moment in a while while I’ve been making art - but the day I took these test shots I did.

It’s back ❤️ taken in Cape Town, Western Cape by @hakopike

A collection of creatives met in one space, shared stories, incredible wine, unbelievable food and left feeling full in more ways that one.

This night happened because of the kindness and thoughtfulness of @spacesafrica.world @rupertandrothschild. •

For those of us who are lucky to be exposed to so many forms of beauty everyday - a night like this stood out. There was something different about this space - it was the people in it.

Every single person was talented, kind and listened. We all spoke for hours eating and drinking wine, we laughed at our stories and listened to the beautiful music by @whoisleko. We then got to experience one of the most unique and beautiful fashions shows by @_rareblaq. Thank you so much @spacesafrica.world and @rupertandrothschild for hosting us and giving us a once in a lifetime experience we will all remember. ❤️❤️ taken in Rupert & Rothschild, Franschhoek, Western Cape by @hakopike

I’m so full of love from all the replies! My passion for photography started when I watched Amelie when I was young. I loved Wong Kar-wai and I was obsessed with colour grading for years. I moved to Cape Town to filmmaking and then I dove straight into photography. Years of magical humans, music videos, album covers, and hundreds of shoots. And then I found my favourite style: Neo Noir. Here are some of my favorite shoots over the years! ✨

It’s been so heart warming to hear that people are cinema fans too and I’m so happy these women have given me the opportunity to document their beautiful selves in such cinematic way ❤️•

After 4 years of taking a break from photography - I find myself back to it. To be honest it’s where I started being an artist - and it’s the only art form that feels the easiest funny enough! Why did I take a break? Well two things: I wanted to paint and go to art residencies in Japan and Indonesia. And it got so busy and I needed to remember why I do it - truth is because I love it and it feels like it pours out of my soul.

I’ve photographed friends all over the world - I was so inspired by Wong Kar Wai that I even flew to Hong Kong to see where he shot his films. Every film I watched I absorbed. There was a very specific colour palette I’ve always used. In painting, ceramics and photography.

Thank you @flyinglotuseater for letting me document you being the cinematic beings that we are!

Annual self portrait - last image is a little Moomoo Kittie cat. Returning to photography after 4 years. I’ve had a ritual for 10 years to take a portrait of myself every year. For some reason painting this wall in the house changed something. All the years of being a cinematic photographer, painting vibrant murals and creating ceramics that told stories I couldn’t even verbalize myself - somehow I’m back to where it started. ❤️ taken in Cape Town, South Africa by @hakopike

Moments of Impact - exploring Wong Kar-Wai’s film locations with Nini in Hong Kong. I’ve spoken about my theory of moments of impact throughout life over the last 4 years and it holds true now more than ever. My time now is filled with plans and goals to obtain a certain life I want - which at times seems very different to the one I was chasing 4 years ago. But we adapt and grow based one who we are at a time. There are moments of impact that shape our choices and our opinions - mine are normally encounters with strangers. But now as the world is changing and we are getting older it’s come to a tough decision. Will we live whimsical lives where we selflessly love and explore the world and create when we’re at our most raw? Will we work in jobs we need to have to finance the dreams we can afford? Or is it a mixture of the two? Some have an internal fear of never discovering what they want. Others fear never reaching their goals and dreams - when they are so tangible yet held captive by a glass roof. We can see what we want - how on earth do we get it? taken in Hong Kong by @hakopike

I know I look sad but I’ve just been painting all weekend and I’m actually extremely happy with this piece! Year of the snake 🐍 I had a little break from painting and I got to paint this wall, sketched the night before and dove right in at 10am on a Saturday. 🤩•
