Last Wednesday, we gathered at the Castlemaine Gaol for an evening of shared food and short films with a theme that explored how we transition our local economies in ways that care for people, place, and future generations.

Huge thanks to @globalvillagelearning , who generously shared their space and let us set up a temporary cinema in the gaol where we screened 6 short films from the CDoc LOCALS archive to explore local examples of economic transition that are already contributing to a richer, more connected way of generating and exchanging value beyond money. Huge thanks to the filmmakers for sharing their stories with us Fred, Lucy, Trace, Alex, Bergen, Jodi, Martine, Yimby.

Also a huge thanks to @bettyniggler for helping pull off the logistics of setting up and for these fabulous photos. ❤️

And to everyone who gathered that contributed in some way, either by bringing a dish to share (such a delicious spread!!), helping with set up or packing down. The event itself was the wellbeing economy in action and felt like a real healing balm in times that feel so divided, hard and scary.

***This event followed on from and was supported by a learning circle program initiated by Castlemaine Institute ❤️ (@lexilestrange, @melinachan @newjodi )last year that brought together local folks like artists, change makers and community leaders, to learn together and explore what a transition to a wellbeing economy might look like in this region. A series of workshops and gatherings took place over several months. One of the things I was most impressed with was how the program really committed to exploring how we might embody wellbeing economy concepts and approaches in order to support and deepen our relationships to the learning, one another and place. taken in Dja Dja Wurrung Country by @halfcut_collage

I have been experimenting with the tallow (remnants of the bone broth from bio-dynamic beef bones) making super natural small batches of bootleg skincare for me (and you?) I don’t claim miracles or use measuring spoons so each batch is its own uniquè magic. I love it and maybe you will too?

$25.00/60ml jar and TODAY available at @mutualaidmarketcentralvic with all proceeds going towards families in Gaza 🇵🇸✌️🕊️❤️ by @halfcut_collage

This project began in 2006 as Things for Thoughts, a playful experiment created with dear friends that traded objects for thoughts. It offered a different kind of engagement with strangers, one that is soft, fluid, and profoundly human. Over time, it grew into a practice of deep listening, a way to see ourselves and each other more clearly in our shared environment.

Threads of Us continues as an experiment in community and a quiet resistance to hustle culture.

It holds space for reflection, for connection and the playful act of a hand written note as an offering to the collective.

The Thought Exchange will live in the Phee Broadway Theatre/Library Foyer during Fringe with some brief appearances at other events.

Threads of Us is a roaming Thought Box that invites you to step inside and share your thoughts to the collective in response to curious questions. As it moves through @castlemainefringefestival , this installation gathers our ideas, strange wonders, and unexpected answers, weaving them into a conversation that reflects our shared experiences

The installation will spark two pop-up activities, inviting YOU to participate in a shared act of creation using the gathered thoughts as prompts and the vibrant spirit of the Fringe as inspiration. Let’s see what we can weave together. by @halfcut_collage

I use collage as a creative activity to bring people, ideas and playfulness together in a fun, engaging and accessible environment.
Collage events are a great way to connect and engage with strangers, friends and colleagues. I host events in a range of venues and spaces. All events can be tailored around a particular theme or purpose. Consideration and care is always taken to create a space that encourages ease of participation and fun for all—no prior experience is needed, all ages and levels are catered for - fun times are guaranteed. by @halfcut_collage
