We are completely obsessed with this recent batch of student work from our youth open studio classes. 🎨🌟 Every single piece is a reflection of the artist behind it—full of unique perspectives, bold choices, and incredible imagination.🧑‍🎨

Swipe through to see how different creative minds interpret the world around them. No two pieces are alike, and that is our absolute favorite part of the creative process! 🪄💫

So proud of this talented community of young artists. Drop some love for these pieces in the comments! 👇

Here they are! Our Community and Sponsored Chalk Artists finished pieces! The theme this year was “Chalking the Classics” with a unique twist!

Another fantastic Hamburg Art Fest and Chalk Walk in the books! What an incredible community event. We are so grateful to everyone who made it happen.

To our chalk artists: Thank you for spending hours out there on the pavement bringing your designs to life. The skill, patience, and detail you all poured into your squares completely transformed our street.

To our fine artist vendors: Thank you for bringing your talents to our community. It was great seeing people take their time looking through your pieces, talking with you about your process, and taking home genuine local art.

To our volunteers: This wouldn’t have been possible without the donation of your time and energy, thank you.

And special thanks, to Poppy @villageofhamburg for documenting it all beautifully, @paigescreationsandlivepainting and @brejudgeart for bringing Plein Air to Hamburg. To our judges @tomtoles, @gretchen_weidner, @craftycraw, and @corsiniart, and to the community for coming together to support local artists ❤️

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

Yesterday was such a special day for Buffalo Plein Air, and we are so grateful to every single person who helped make our first Plein Air Competition what it was.

Thank you to all of the incredible artists who came out to paint, took a chance on this event, shared your work, and supported one another throughout the day. Seeing artists spread throughout Hamburg creating together and then bringing all of those completely different perspectives into one show at the end of the day was something we won’t forget.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the show, stopped to watch artists paint, supported their work, cheered us on, and helped make the day feel so special. And of course, thank you to our sponsors: @paigescreationsandlivepainting, @thegoodscompany716, @sandbaggersgolfbar, and @villageofhamburg, judges: @openartsbuf, @jpsinkart and Juliet, volunteers, and everyone behind the scenes who believed in what we were trying to create.

When we started Buffalo Plein Air, we wanted to create a welcoming community where artists could get outside, make art, meet other creatives, learn from each other, and feel supported. Yesterday felt like such a beautiful example of that.

We want to continue creating opportunities for artists, bringing people together through art, and building a community where everyone feels encouraged to create, no matter their experience level.

Thank you for believing in Buffalo Plein Air and growing this community with us. We’re just getting started. ❤️

last chalk event of the year with @villageofhamburgartfestival ! The theme was "A twist on the classics" so i chose Gustave Courbet's "Desperate Man" in which he's now getting ready for prom in his childhood bathroom bathroom where he finds a big fat zit right on his forehead. It gave passersby a sensible chuckle and i even got some help from some enthusiastic kid volunteers to help tape down the lines. It was only a few hours so unfortunately i didn't get to bring it to a place where i'd call it done but hey, i think it wasn't bad for the time i had. by @hamburgartstudio

🎨❤️ WHAT A NIGHT IN THE VILLAGE!

@buffalopleinair , Chalk Walk and Cuisine to Canvas filled our streets with incredible art, music and fun!

A huge thank you to Buffalo Plein Air, Sophia @hamburgartstudio Imagine:Hamburg and their wonderful volunteers, our neighbor Rich B., and all of the artists who shared their incredible talent with the Village.

And thank YOU for coming out and making these events so special. Your support is what keeps them growing!

This is what community looks like. Next year, we’re going even bigger!

Our @buffalopleinair competition officially came to life, and seeing so many artists spread throughout Hamburg painting, creating, chatting, and supporting one another was seriously the coolest thing.

A HUGE thank you to @paigescreationsandlivepainting for all of the work, planning, brainstorming, and everything in between that went into making this happen. It has been so much fun building Buffalo Plein Air together and watching an idea turn into a day filled with so many talented artists.

Thank you to all of our sponsors who helped make the day possible, to every artist who came out and painted, and to everyone who stopped by the show to see the finished pieces and support the artists. Seeing all of the work together at the end of the day was such a special moment.

September 12 was one for the books. I’m so grateful for this little art community we’re building and already excited for what we do next.🤍 more to come soon by @hamburgartstudio

Hamburg Chalk Fest 2026!!

This year’s theme was “Chalking the Classics.” Artists had to select a famous work of art and create a unique spin on it. With the @buffalobills season starting tomorrow. I thought it was fitting to add a @buffalobills spin on it. The painting I selected was, “Napoleon Crossing the Alps” by Jacques-Louis David. Comment if you know what the name of Napoleons horse is. If not… make one up!

I was also fortunately blessed to work along side a young and EXTREMELY talented artist @the_kaylee_white ! She wasn’t able to register in time, so instead of having her sit out. We decided to team up and turn it into a collaboration piece! It was tons of fun combining styles, bouncing ideas off and brining Josh Allen to life. Make sure to follow her account!

Thank you to @hamburgartstudio for hosting an amazing event! by @hamburgartstudio

Yesterday, from 9 AM to 1 PM, Hamburg became our studio.

Plein air artists spread throughout the village, each finding their own little corner, view, building, street, or moment to capture from life. It was so special to watch everyone interpret the same community in completely different ways.

This was the heart of the @villageofhamburgartfestival & Buffalo Plein Air Competition. Artists had four hours to paint outdoors and create an original work inspired by the Village of Hamburg, before bringing their paintings back to the exhibition for judging.

We are so grateful to every artist who showed up, set up their easels, and spent the morning painting alongside us. The talent and creativity we saw throughout the day was incredible.

Thank you for making our first competition so special. We cannot wait to do this again next year.
