‘Røde manøvre V’ at Stavanger domkirke 06.06.26 Earlier this month I was part of an event curated by the duo Koffi & Højgaard @koffihojgaard for Stavanger municipality, as part of their anniversary program. ‘Kunstdøgnet’ consisted of 24 hours of art, mostly performance and intervention works, presented in various public spaces throughout the city. My thingy took place in the evening at Stavanger domkirke, as well as performances by Nils Bech @nilsbech and Siri Borge @siri_borge A huge thank you to Josefine Gynther Craig @_yosofine_ for the good vibes and communication, and a big kudos to everyone for pulling off a really ambitious programme over both daytime and nighttime hours, spread out over so many locations! ‘Røde manøvre V’ was a collaboration with Grusha Pankert @_grisha223_ (electric violin and beatmaking) and Vilde Jensen @vildvilderevilde (costume). Thanks to Jo Mikkel Sjaastad Huse @oldtiden for the lighting rig. The vase is a reused ceramic prop made by Patricia Carolina. Photos: Helle Navratil / Stavanger kommune by @hamid_otter
Hamid Waheed (b. 1995, Norway) is an artist working with film, installation, text, and performance. With queer desire as a point of departure, he explores political and psychosocial conditions through an exploratory approach to character and dramaturgy. He examines the consequences of history through the use of his own body, fiction, and a growing video archive. His projects are often developed in collaboration with other artists and professionals. Waheed is part of, among others, the film company Skissefilm and the collective HÆRK.

During his time in BEKs video studio, Hamid @hamid_otter worked on developing ‘Chimera’: a new experimental video work exploring queerness, domesticity and ferality. Inspired by the works of Dani and Sheila ReStack, he’s been recording and editing a medley of his personal material from Bergen and the past few years, interspersed with archival videos, voices in multiple languages and manipulated graphic fragments. These combinations suggest a link between intimate body rituals, animals, landscapes and the textural feel of differing video formats - all as modes of affection. Hamid Waheed is an artist with a background and practice in film, visual and performing arts. His work highlights an expanded relationship with queer desire, different realities of time, intimacy and political violence. He is part of the production company Skissefilm and the film screening collective HÆRK. Images: Hamid Waheed by @hamid_otter
