In a time of need, there is so much love poured out into your peers, when everyone knows we all need a little extra. Coming from this foundation, our hearts are with the Gilbert community today, and everyday for the last three years. It is devastating to see another precious and valuable soul leave our community. And it is eye opening- over and over again- and shows that how you operate, carry yourself, take care of others, it all matters. Every conversation you have, every door you hold, every smile you exchange…you never know what will come from it, or who will stay from it. Just know, this foundation and this community is HERE, and it is gut wrenching to say this now, when it’s too late for some, but those of you here need to stay. Stay to see the sunset and then stay a while longer to see the sunrise. And day after day try to recognize all the beautiful, often mundane, things that tell you why it’s worth staying. And above all show love to everyone around you, and watch how much others will love you back. Please be kind. Please be empathetic. Please go easy on yourself. Please love. And please know that the HAMO Foundation was created for people like Jacob, Henry, Nolan, and so many more… so that their legacy and names can be carried on and through our world with nothing but love attached to them. We are here to hear you. Stay.

September 16, 2020❤️Six years ago, we lost Henry Alan Munson Owen to suicide.

Six years later, we still find pieces of Henry everywhere. In the people who knew and loved him. In the friendships he brought together. In the moments when someone chooses to listen a little longer, reach out, or remind another person that they are not alone.
Henry had a way of making people feel seen. He welcomed everyone and brought an energy into every room that was impossible to miss. He was a son, brother, friend, teammate, performer, and so much more. But more than anything, Henry was someone who made people feel like they mattered. That is why the HAMO Foundation was created. What began from grief, became a commitment to carry Henry’s love and compassion forward. Today, our work is centered around creating connection, raising awareness, providing resources, and building a community where people feel comfortable speaking honestly about what they are going through.

We believe mental health conversations should happen before there is a crisis. We believe checking in should be normal. We believe listening can make a difference. And we believe that sometimes the most important thing we can do is remind someone that they are seen, heard, and never alone.

Six years of missing Henry. Six years of carrying his memory forward.

Today, we remember Henry not only for the way we lost him, but for the way he lived. For his kindness. His humor. His loyalty. His ability to make people feel welcome. And for the lasting impact he continues to have on so many lives.

Henry, we miss you every day. Your legacy continues through every person who reaches out and every conversation that happens.

September is national suicide prevention month. We will always carry the pain of those we’ve lost, while continuing to keep the conversation going for our community.

Mental health support shouldn’t only happen in moments of crisis. Our mission is to be proactive with mental health. Check in. Reach out. Connect with one another. Utilize resources. Create a community where asking for help is met with understanding, support, and kindness. It takes one conversation to end the stigma around asking for help! Visit our website for more information about the resources in your community!

But most importantly - be there for each other, even when things are going good. You never know what silent battle someone is fighting❤️

Keep the conversation going.

A big thank you to Gale and Ryan Gehling, REALTORS®️ for their continued support of The HAMO Foundation. Recently, they raised extra funds for our cause through the sale of school calendars. Every dollar raised makes a difference in raising awareness and providing tools around mental health needs in our community, and for that we are thankful. Thank you also to those that purchased a calendar! ❤️💙 by @hamo_foundation

For her 14th birthday, instead of asking for gifts, Julia asked her friends and family to donate to HAMO Foundation. Together, they raised $477 to help us continue our mission of making others feel heard.
Acts of kindness like this remind us why we do what we do. Julia, thank you for your selflessness, generosity, and belief in our cause!!!
💙❤️

Thank you, Jabari Hinson, for speaking from your heart. To everyone listening, you are NEVER alone. Please reach out to be connected with all of the resources HAMO has to offer. You are worth the fight. You are worthy of love. You are deserving of finding help. by @hamo_foundation

To our community,

Our hearts are heavy.

There is a heaviness being felt throughout our community as we mourn lives lost too soon.
We join so many others in mourning and grieving alongside those whose lives have been forever impacted. There are no perfect words for moments like these—only the shared sadness that comes when lives are lost too soon.

As we process this grief together, we encourage everyone to hold their loved ones a little closer, check in on one another, and remember that even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference. No one should have to carry their pain alone.

If you are struggling, hurting, or simply need someone to talk to, please know that the HAMO Foundation is here to hear you.

No matter your age, your story, or what you’re facing, we can connect you with resources, mentors, support systems, and licensed therapists. Sometimes you need professional help. Sometimes you just need someone who understands and is willing to listen. Whatever that support looks like, we will do everything we can to help you find it.

You do not have to carry what you’re going through alone. Reach out to us. Any time, anywhere, anything.

Mental health matters. Connection matters. Every life matters.

Say their names. Carry their light. We will never stop talking about their legacy.
