POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Our next concert, CABARET, is three weeks from tomorrow - aka, Halloween!! Leave your inhibitions at the door and you’ll be in for a night of shifting identities and musical madness and melodrama.

We’re thrilled to be joined by superstars of contemporary music @joseph_havlat and @dottelettsbean, alongside one of our regular sopranos, @christinesoprano.

The concert will be at the gorgeous Craxton Studios on Kidderpore Avenue in Hampstead.

We have a great series of concerts this year, and are delighted to announce the first three! First up, gorgeous and rarely-heard English polyphony sung by a vocal consort. Next, a Halloween Cabaret that’s going to be salacious, spooky, silly, and a whole slew of other alliterative qualities. Finally, we kick off December with a beautiful programme of Christmassy Baroque chamber music.

Our first concert is this Monday evening - we hope to see you there!

It’s the last day of summer folks, which means it’s time for the new Hampstead Collective season! We’re kicking things off this year with a sumptuous feast of early English polyphony. Epic votive antiphons by composers like Taverner and Fayrfax will be sung by a vocal consort, interspersed with readings of 16th and 20th century poetry.

October 5th, 7 pm at Hampstead Parish Church.

Moj drug, moj nezhnyj drug... ljublju... tvoja... tvoja!...
My friend, my gentle friend... I love you... I am yours... yours!

This *might* be my favourite moment in our whole Medtner recital, which is saying something as the programme is absolutely chocka with epic endings!!! I find this one stands out though, for being so personal and heartfelt. Plus it emerges out of nowhere, in a sudden change of mood after a very introspective, intimate song. It really captures that feeling of being so overwhelmed by your love for someone that you have to stop what you’re doing to tell them. It’s a thrill and a joy to sing.

But truly, about half of the songs on our programme have the most insane virtuosic piano playouts, not to mention entire pages of sustained high notes. Singers and pianists, if this sounds like your cup of tea, go find yourselves some Medtner songs…!

We had such a blast last night. Thanks so much to everyone who came out to support us, and special thanks to @atemlicht for being such a champion of this repertoire and for playing it SO brilliantly. taken in Hampstead Parish Church by @hampsteadcollective

Extra, extra!!! It must be May Madness around here, because we have a *second concert* for you this month!

Thomas Ang @atemlicht, Christine Buras @christinesoprano, and Jess Gillingwater @jgillingwater perform songs by Russian composer Nikolai Medtner (1880–1951), a Russian composer and pianist known for his deeply expressive and densely virtuosic music of the late-Romantic tradition, who emigrated to the UK from the Soviet Union in 1935, residing in Golders Green for the last fifteen years of his life.

We hope to see you there! Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite or at the door. taken in Hampstead Parish Church by @hampsteadcollective
