Today I came across this photo of rice farmers planting seedlings in their sawah in Keliki, Bali, that I took a bit over a year ago.

I think this photo called to me because I had a parallel experience earlier this evening, checking on my California native plant seedlings, pulling out the blades of grass sprouting up between them. Making sure they have the space they need to grow.

How a year can bring about great change, new seeds to be sown, and a different landscape. A need to pause, do things with intention, and let things emerge.

May we all have a bit of spaciousness this week, and stay in balance with whatever landscape we're traversing. by @hand_ember

I’m absolutely thrilled to finally launch my new collection of robes, designed and made in Bali.

I never set out to make robes, but fate has a funny way of surprising you and leading you in directions you never really meant to sail. I found some people making astoundingly beautiful fabrics made with natural plant dyes or using traditional processes like ikat weaving or hand stamped batik.

These footed terracotta bowls from Lombok are the best. Not only are they fun to use for displays, but they're fantastic for burning incense, dropping your keys on your way inside, or using as a small fruit bowl.

They were one of the bestsellers at our pop-up, and there are only a couple left. I'm offering free US shipping throughout the month of July on all items except furniture.

One thing I think about is using "I" vs. "we" when I talk about what I do. When I use "we," it is never to pretend we are something we aren't (which is very much a one person show rn).

It is to acknowledge the many hands that have worked on our collection, and the collective nature of our work, lives, and environment. by @hand_ember

One thing I love is when things find their new home in the world. Sometimes I'll get a photo, which is sort of like receiving a postcard from an object in its new life.

These old Indonesian terracotta water vessels were sourced by the Aesop team for an installation in their store in Newport Beach, CA, and are now the home for a little forest of geranium plants.
