There’s something really satisfying about building a garden with materials that actually last. 🌿

I wanted a raised garden bed that would hold up through Florida heat, rain, planting seasons, and all the little everyday moments outside—and this cedar planter from @cedarplanters is exactly that. The natural cedar ages beautifully, feels sturdy, and somehow makes my lanai feel calmer and more intentional.

Because gardening isn’t just about growing food or flowers. It’s about creating rituals you come back to every day. ☀️

Time for a little check-in! How are we all feeling about the price of eggs and groceries?

Prices are rising everywhere, and yes, I feel it too. But I’ve realized something that might help—because I’ve always spent money based on my personal values, I don’t feel as overwhelmed when prices rise.

Take eggs, for example. Everyone is freaking out about the price jump, but for me? My price hasn’t changed at all. I’ve always bought expensive, free-range, organic eggs because I refuse to support factory farming and CAFOs.

This mindset applies beyond eggs:

🥖 Cooking from scratch keeps my grocery bill steadier. 👗 Buying quality over fast fashion means I shop less. 🛍 Shopping secondhand makes inflation less of a worry. 🎟 Prioritizing experiences over things means fewer price shocks.

I keep coming back to one of my favorite quotes by Anna Lappe:
 “Every time you spend money, you are casting a vote for the kind of world you want.”

This doesn’t mean inflation and tariffs aren’t real or that rising costs don’t affect me—they do. But by choosing where and how I spend, I feel more in control, even when the economy is uncertain.

Let’s normalize using what we have before buying something new!

I don’t know about you but we have at least 15 of these plastic folders from previous school years. It’s tempting to trash them at the end of the year but if they are in good condition, you can save them and reuse them!

Who else is scrounging up all the old school supplies and doing all the back to school hacks to make back to school more eco-friendly AND more economical?

I don’t know why I didn’t start doing this sooner. I use to dread folding all of our cloth napkins but not enough to switch to disposable napkins.

One day I just stopped folding them. We still use them. I still set the table nicely with them for family dinner. But if we are eating quickly we just grab a napkin and eat.

Seriously, why didn’t I do this sooner?

Here for the lazy Saturday summer mornings.

Also- random reminder that Ina Garten is right when she says store bought is fine. I’ve spent so many weekend mornings making pancakes from scratch because they are healthier, cheaper, and not that difficult to make. I am proud that we are an “ingredient household”.

But buying the mix and pour version of pancakes has made my weekends feel a little more relaxing. Just sharing in case you feel like you need permission to cut corners every now and then. 😉 by @hannah.rinaldi

Texts from my husband this morning! Not sure if I’m proud or offended.🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, most of my clothes are older than my kids. My favorite shoes are from 2003. My one and only heavy jacket got me through college. I probably got it in 2005. And this sweater pictured here was definitely pre 2013.

I’m currently working on adding new pieces to my wardrobe. Mostly used pieces I’m buying after renting through Nuuly.

But I still love this sweater! I won’t be parting with it any time soon.

Just me?

It isn’t even April Fool’s Day yet but I’ve gotta start thinking of ways to get the kids back for this one. Seriously, I just needed a measuring cup. I was not expecting this even though I probably should have been expecting it since they move them around the house constantly! by @hannah.rinaldi
