Watch via the link in my bio. // I made two trips from Berkeley to Asheville, NC to film my @berkeleyjournalism thesis doc Asheville Forever, with @zoeannerose and @sawanotom joining me to help with cinematography. The greatest challenge was emotional - residents were still very much in the midst of grief and loss from Hurricane Helene when we arrived, and the work required navigating that with care while trying to tell their stories honestly. The film sits at the intersection of personal resilience and the broader climate crisis reshaping the region. TODAY, the new documentary short Lifelines launches in New York City, kicking off a cross-country screening tour.

Directed by Hannah Rosenzweig and Robin Honan and co-executive produced by Olympic legend Allyson Felix, Lifelines follows families in New Jersey and Colorado navigating childbirth and unexpected medical emergencies — and shows what becomes possible when a paid family and medical leave program is in place.

The tour begins as we’re celebrating paid leave wins from Virginia to Colorado, and just weeks before legislators and advocates from 25 states gather in Washington to chart a path toward a 50-state strategy and federal action.

The momentum is growing.

Gloria Steinem has spent decades organizing, fighting for women’s rights, and hosting talking circles in her home. At 92, she’s still doing it, not only because it feeds her soul but also because it’s necessary. In 2026, we are fighting the same fight for our basic rights—for our bodily autonomy and our right to vote.

This week, @votemamalobby friends—from 6 months to 92 years old—gathered in @gloriasteinem’s living room to support our moms running up and down the ballot and to talk about how we are changing the political system. We heard from our mama @lbtforcongress, who is Chief Public Affairs Officer at the nation’s largest Planned Parenthood affiliate, a mom of a one year old, and the only Black woman running for Congress in a red-to-blue district.

This event was a reminder of why Vote Mama does what we do to break barriers and elect Democratic mamas: so that our babies don’t have to fight these same fights.

Lt. Governor of MN Peggy Flanagan last night in Brooklyn. No words… 😢. Peggy is running for Senate to succeed Tina Smith. She’s the first Native American woman Lt Governor and would be the first Native Senator ever. Please support Peggy… I was so moved by her. Sharing the statement from the Committee for the First Amendment on the arrests of journalists Don Lemon, Georgia Fort, and others.

We are part of the 1a Committee, a collective of artists and cultural workers, founded by Jane Fonda and standing together to defend free expression against repression, industry complicity, and intimidation.

We fight back by spreading the truth: Arresting journalists for doing their jobs is an attack on our freedoms and our democracy.

As journalist Georgia Fort asked immediately upon her release: “Do we have a Constitution?’”

This is a test. They want us scared and quiet, but we can’t let fear win.

A DOC NYC Film Festival appreciation post! Now that the 2025 festival has come to an end, I want to share my gratitude to the @docnycfest founders, programmers, staff, and filmmakers who made it a special, inclusive, and celebratory space for so many artists.

It’s an huge feat to pull off as the LARGEST documentary film festival in the country. I have been lucky to be part of it twice with my films, including the very first festival!
