Not sure if you know, but I was on TV šŸ˜‚
Hustle hard and you’ll achieve the things you dreamed of. Simple.
It was incredibly poignant that this weekend’s @saturday.kitchen #CelebrationKitchen Purim Special aired the day after one of the most important days in Iranian history. I feel unbelievably proud to have been on national TV discussing my heritage, culture and food.
A total joy to share the table and break bread with @matt.tebbutt @erantibi @benrebuck @bukharian_food @robrinder @rachelrileyrr & @elliotlevey. We had such a laugh!
Thank you for having me Team SK and @amandacactus 🩷

This week I had the absolute privilege of hosting the @theopenuniversity x @beyondtheschoolrun Mumentum event at Barclays. šŸŽ¤

It was a room full of female founders, mothers and strong, powerful, inspiring women.

We spoke about how becoming a mother doesn’t mean a pause in life, but it’s a catalyst for evolution.

I have - and still do - struggle with motherhood. I love my son deeply and inexplicably but I also haven’t enjoyed the role of being a parent. I’ve finally realised these statements can be both true at once. ā¤ļø

When I fell pregnant I had terrible anxiety about what my career would look like. I’d just pivoted from photographer to presenter; how do you even delegate that role to someone else? You can’t. For so many women out there, the fear of not knowing who you’ll be post partum, and what you’ll do, can be crippling. I took no maternity leave, had no maternity pay and no plan B. I went back to work 3 weeks after giving birth and although it sounds absolutely insane in hindsight, I felt physically capable of doing so and it lit the fire within me that I now wasn’t just achieving my dreams for myself, but also for my son.

On Tuesday we talked about how our careers and businesses have changed since motherhood and one thing that came up was that the hustle and drive became even more heightened and exciting. The juggle is, of course, ridiculous. 🫠

Listening to these founders’ stories was so inspiring to me. It validated all the feelings I go through on a daily basis; sleepless nights, anxiety, tears, self-doubt. I’m not saying we should accept these feelings as the norm, but they do come with the deal of being a business woman.

I know how privileged I am to have a job I love, a job I risked a lot for - and a job I work unbelievably hard for. These uncomfortable moments are also met with feelings of pride, achievement, passion, joy, celebration and delicious food.

If any mother out there is in the deep trenches of it all, I see you, I feel you, I understand. Reach out, let’s talk. I desperately want more honest conversations on this topic and I’m prepared to help lead the way.

Something a little different from me… šŸŽ¤

Delighted to announce I’m facilitating and hosting panel talks at the inaugural @theopenuniversity x @beyondtheschoolrun ā€œWhere Motherhood Becomes Mumentumā€ event.

I’ll be interviewing female founders and entrepreneurs; women who didn’t let motherhood stop them, but allowed it to evolve them.

I’ve mentioned before that I only now feel confident and open enough to discuss my experience of motherhood in a raw and honest way. I desperately wish I had these conversations and events happening when I was deciding whether to have children, when I was pregnant and when I was in the depths of post-partum madness.

I’ve always said that the work system in this country has not been designed for mothers, particularly self-employed ones. I had no paid maternity leave, no mat cover, just undeniably embarrassing basic government allowance.
I had built a brand and platform, which was me, myself and I. I couldn’t delegate presenting to another ā€œHannahā€. I chose to go back quite quickly after giving birth because I felt anxious that my jobs would go to someone else. In hindsight, I realise now what a hell of a mental load that was for me.

I’m so excited to meet likeminded women who have experienced the same - or experienced different - who have shaped their lives and not seen motherhood as a pause, but as an evolution.

Also, side note: the wonderful lady behind this event met me when I was interviewing someone at 3 weeks post partum. I’d said yes to the job before I gave birth and it was my first proper time out the house. I’d never felt so vulnerable and overwhelmed in my life and it’s quite emotional for me that I’m now here hosting an event for her šŸ„¹šŸ«¶šŸ½

If my voice can help just one other woman, I truly feel like I’ve achieved something. 🩷

Hair loss has been the bane of my life for quite a few years now but got completely out of control postpartum and because of anxiety. I discovered @champohaircare and religiously used their Pitta Serum daily. I truly believe it helped with the regrowth. 🩷

CHAMPO coincidentally got in touch recently and sent me a lovely box of serum and I really want to shout out about them! Female founded. For all hair types. Non-greasy. It’s a no-brainer!

I have a 10% discount code to use at checkout: HANNAHHARLEY10

I’ve recommended this serum to so many friends so now it’s time to shout out about it!

Hair loss can be really scary with so many opinions flying around and the more you stress, the more it adds to the problem. @champohaircare is a perfect addition to your daily routine.

15 years behind the lens taught me one big thing: the best stories always happen when the cameras are down.

My first essay for Hungry for More is live!

I’m diving into career pivots, Lacan’s Mirror Theory and why the messy, unscripted outtakes of life are the ones that actually matter.

ā€œWho am I to be interviewing these people?ā€

Sometimes you just have to invite Ainsley Harriott into your house.

Imposter syndrome doesn’t always look like not believing in yourself.

Sometimes it looks like sitting in your own home, looking around and thinking…how on earth am I interviewing @ainsleyfoods ?!

Hannah opens up about the imposter syndrome that came with building @crazysexyfood and inviting people she had admired for years into her home to interview them.

From the outside, it can look like confidence, but behind the scenes, there can still be that little voice questioning whether you belong in the room because it’s such a pinch me moment.

I think so many of us can relate to that.

Hannah’s story is such a brilliant reminder that feeling like an imposter doesn’t mean you’re not capable. Sometimes it simply means you’re doing something that feels bigger than anything you’ve done before.

You don’t have to wait until you feel completely confident to start.

šŸŽ™ļøListen to the full conversation with @hannahharley on @showingupstronger with @sarahcampus which is out now on all podcast platforms and YouTube.

Never thought I’d do this but here we are. And by posting it here means I’m holding myself accountable to consistency! šŸ¤“

Please follow my new @substack, Hungry for More.

This is a place where I will be opening up about what makes Hannah, Hannah. I’m going to talk all things food, of course, but I’m also going to dive into life admin: career pivots, my life as a celebrity photographer, rants and celebrations and also… motherhood.
I’ve been very private about my relationship with this new role and I now feel confident to speak up about it.

I never wanted to use the ā€œmumā€ role as part of my brand, nor make it a main talking point but actually what I’ve realised is that it’s FINALLY given me strength and confidence to move away from Hannah the people pleaser, opinion worrier, imposter syndrome-ee, into someone who actually doesn’t care too much about other’s opinions, knows herself even more and is ready to be totally and utterly honest about everything and everyone!

I’d love it if you subscribed. I’m the queen of reinvention and although I’m not retraining as a writer, I’m not sure I’ve written this much since my A Levels! Saying that, I did get an A in my English GCSE so expect some serious groundbreaking essays šŸ˜‚

I can’t promise consistency but I can promise honesty. Come join me for the ride!

I’ve been buying @getfussy for a year now, so when they approached me to talk a bit more about them I jumped at the chance!

Fussy are revolutionising deodorant. They’re natural, refillable but most importantly effective! They come in a range of fabulous colours and even better flavours - my favourite is coconut milk!

They’ve kindly given me a 15% discount code: FUSSY-HHY15 so you can try it for yourself!

I’m genuinely so impressed with this brand and I promise you won’t be disappointed. I’m prepared to smell your ā€˜pits to prove they’re the best deodorant on the market!

WE’RE BACK. šŸŽ™ļøāœØ

After a little summer break, @showingupstronger with @sarahcampus is back for the second half of Season 1 and we’re coming back even stronger.

I couldn’t think of a better woman to kick things off than @hannahharley creator of @crazysexyfood

Hannah is a London-based presenter who brings together food, culture and storytelling in such a brilliant way, but her story didn’t start in food.

Before creating one of the UK’s top food podcasts, Hannah spent over a decade as a photographer, capturing celebrity portraits and major events, before completely reinventing herself and following what truly lit her up.

She’s since interviewed some incredible names, including @marcopierrewhit and @prueleith , and now presents at some of the UK’s biggest food festivals.

What I love about Hannah’s story is the courage to change direction, back yourself and create something that feels authentically yours.

In this conversation, we talk about reinvention, identity, creativity, following your gut, finding your thing and what happens when you give yourself permission to start again, and this is just the beginning…

Episode 6 of @showingupstronger drops tomorrow. šŸŽ§

We’re back and I think this next chapter is going to be a good one.

Let’s keep showing up stronger together.

A real day in the life featuring no matcha, viral froyo queuing or cute matching gym sets 🤣

All jokes aside, I know I keep saying it but wow I’m lucky to do what I do. I also work damn hard to get the opportunities and I hope one day my little boy will look up to me and say how proud he is of me. I’ve found motherhood hard and I don’t talk too much about what goes on behind-the-scenes but I think I’m ready to slowly do so (stay tuned for something exciting/exposing 🄹).

I showed up to his nursery stressed (because I had the slowest taxi driver of all time), adrenaline at šŸ’Æ because that’s how it feels being on stage all day, and in full make up (don’t think the teachers recognised me 🤣). But we keep moving because that’s what we do!

Anyway, here’s to living my dreams, hustling hard and eating oysters!
