Who even is Hannah?

You’ve probably seen the photographs, the wedding films and the pretty details around here… so I thought it was probably time you met the person behind them 😂

I asked some of my friends to describe me, because obviously I’m far too biased to do it myself.

Wedding photographer + filmmaker, professional over-thinker, introvert pretending to be an extrovert, bringer of sunshine and very much here for the people, the chaos, the good light and all the moments in between.

I’m the person who will get ridiculously excited when I see you in your dress, cry behind my camera during the speeches and become weirdly invested in your family by the end of the day.

I’m so excited to share that Leony & Chief’s wedding film has been selected as a Finalist in Junebug’s Choice Awards 2025! ✨

Winning Wedding Videographer of the Year is such a surreal moment of my life. Looking back, it’s hard to believe how far I’ve come. I remember being in school and being told to pick a “real” job, something practical and stable. For the past 6 years, I kept hearing advice like, “play it safe” or “don’t have high expectations.” And to be honest, there were times I started to believe it.

But I took the leap and finally set up my own company as a wedding videographer and photographer. It wasn’t easy. I started during the lowest point in my personal life but slowly built something I’m incredibly proud of.

Now, I can honestly say I’m the happiest and most confident I’ve ever been. Winning this isn’t just about the recognition; it’s proof that believing in yourself, even when others don’t, can lead to incredible things.

To every couple that trusted me to tell their story, to my amazing support system, and to anyone who feels like they’re not “good enough”—keep pushing, because your dreams are worth the risk.

Instagram gets the finished photographs, the cinematic films, the gorgeous venues and the moments that somehow look effortless.

What it doesn’t always show is everything happening behind the camera to make those moments happen 😂

The overthinking.
The weather checking.
The awkward positions I somehow end up in for “the shot”.
The emotional attachment I form to people I met approximately five minutes ago.
The tiny panic when something changes unexpectedly.
The absolute refusal to give up until I know I’ve captured it properly.

There are glamorous parts of this job… and then there are the parts where I’m hiding in a bush, sprinting across a venue, trying not to cry during speeches or quietly questioning every creative decision I’ve ever made 😅

But I think that’s also why I love it so much.

I care. A lot.

About the photographs. About the films. About the little moments you probably didn’t even notice happening. And especially about creating something that actually feels like *you* when you look back at it.

So yes, Instagram might show you the pretty final result…

Our unofficial wedding-day wishlist: more of the things that make a wedding feel like you 🫶

The traditions you actually care about. The weird little details. The ridiculous cake. The family chaos. The spontaneous singalongs. The things you planned months in advance and the things that definitely weren’t planned at all.

Because honestly, the weddings we love most aren’t necessarily the ones with the most stuff. They’re the ones where you can look around and immediately know who these two people are.

So consider this your sign to add the tambourines, wear the outfit, play the silly game, jump in the pool, eat the cake and generally make the day your own.

More personality. Less wedding rulebook. Always. ☎️

There’s something about the moment a groom sees his bride for the first time, and Jamie, you got me tearing up every time I watched this while editing 🥹

You can plan so much of a wedding day, but reactions like this are the part you can’t manufacture.

They just happen.

And getting to capture those few seconds, the exact moment everything suddenly feels real, is one of my favourite parts of filming a wedding.

The nerves, the laughter, the happy tears, the trying to hold it together and absolutely failing.

Engagement season is coming… 👀💍

What actually happens between getting ready and the dance floor on a Dubai wedding day? 👀

Because when you’re planning your own wedding, it’s really easy to know the big moments you want… but much harder to work out how everything is supposed to fit together.

How much time do you need before the ceremony?
When should family portraits happen?
How long should you allow for couple photos?
And where on earth do you fit in all the little details in between without feeling like you’re being rushed from one thing to the next?

That’s one of the reasons I love creating these Real Reels.

You get to see the day as it actually unfolds, from getting ready and bubbles with the girls, through to family photos, portraits, the dinner reveal, entrances, speeches and everything after.

And after photographing and filming so many weddings, I’ve definitely learnt that a good timeline isn’t about scheduling every second of your day.

It’s about giving the important moments (that are important for you!) enough space to actually enjoy them.

The difference you’re seeing here isn’t that one photographer is “better” than the other.

They’re both me.

One is me in 2017, and one is me today.

The difference is years of weddings, experience, mistakes, learning, refining, and understanding how to create work that feels more intentional and more consistent.

And that’s often what you’re paying for when one photographer costs more than another.

Not just the final images.

You’re paying for the years behind them.

The experience to know what to do when the light changes, the timeline runs late, the weather turns, or a moment happens once and only once.

You’re paying for confidence, instinct, consistency and the ability to make decisions quickly without you ever having to think about it.

Everyone starts somewhere, and that doesn’t make one photographer more worthy than another.

It just means experience has value.

There are some wedding-day moments that feel huge in your head… Walking down the aisle is definitely one of them.

I know you’re nervous. I know everyone is looking at you. And I know your natural instinct is probably to get to the end as quickly as possible.

But when you give yourself a little more time, I get so much more to work with.

I can capture your expression, your dress moving, your family reacting, your person seeing you for the first time, those little in-between moments… instead of one very fast walk down the aisle that’s over before I’ve had a chance to properly tell the story.

And you get to actually see everything too.

So take your time. Look at your person. Let yourself have the moment.

It might only be an extra 10 seconds, but it can make such a difference to your photographs and film.

This is exactly why I love being able to capture weddings through both photography and film.

A photograph gives you something tangible to hold onto. It preserves a moment exactly as it looked, the way you were holding each other, the expression on someone’s face, all of those tiny details you might otherwise forget.

But film gives that same moment another layer.

You see the movement. You hear the laughter. You watch the way they pulled each other closer. And suddenly you’re not just remembering what happened… you’re right back in how it felt.

For me, the two work so beautifully together. One doesn’t replace the other, they complement each other.

You have the photographs that become part of your home, your albums and the memories you look back through for years to come. And then you have the film that lets you press play and experience a little piece of the day all over again.

I feel incredibly lucky that I get to do both.

To be able to preserve how your wedding looked AND bottle up a little of how it felt is one of my favourite parts of what I do 🤍
