Your brand has a personality whether you've decided on one or not. The question is whether it's working FOR you or AGAINST you.

Premium doesn't look like bold. Warm doesn't look like sophisticated. And yet I keep seeing founders try to be all of them at once, then wonder why nobody's converting...

A brand that tries to appeal to everyone reads as designed by committee and built by fear, and people can feel that before they've even read your about page.

Pick one. Commit to it. Build everything around it. That's the whole job.

Which one is yours? Tell me in the comments, and if your honest answer is "none of them feel right yet," that's not a design problem. You know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️

Brianna came in knowing exactly who she was.

My job was to build the visual system that makes everyone else know it too, without her having to explain a thing.

The brand guide you're seeing is what happens when strategy and design actually talk to each other: every color, font, layout, look, feel, vibe is doing active filtering work, so by the time someone books a call, they already know if they're the right fit.

And that's the whole point. by @hannawoadesign

I turned the claim that people don’t need branding into a game because explaining it one more time in a serious tone was going to break me 😂

And look, I'm the first person to tell you that not everyone needs branding right now. If you're just starting out and still figuring out if your thing works, please go sell first and validate your idea on the market. But if your business is already running and you're still out here with a Canva logo and a bio that could belong to literally anyone in your industry... you're not saving money, you're losing people.

Tag someone who needs to play this game (you know exactly who I'm talking about). And if you got mostly ❌ and felt personally attacked... good. That means you're paying attention. The brand identity and brand strategy work you've been putting off? It's costing you more than you think. But the good news is you can fix it any time you decide to, you know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️

Every visual decision in this project had a job to do before it was allowed to be pretty.

Beau Society is a lifestyle platform solving one very specific problem: their audience is drowning in wellness options and trusting none of them. So the brand identity had to feel like the opposite of noise. Authoritative without being cold. Refined without being untouchable. The kind of brand that makes you feel like someone already vetted everything for you.

The dark palette with controlled warm accents, the serif logo with that small separator dot, the hospitality-meets-editorial creative direction, none of that is aesthetic preference. It's all solving the same perception problem: "trust us, we filtered this for you."

This is what brand strategy actually does to a brand identity. It gives every decision a reason that survives beyond taste.

If that's the kind of thinking you want behind your brand, you know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️

This one's for every founder who built their brand to be "nice" and is now wondering why nice doesn't convert 🙂‍↕️

There’s a real pattern: you put energy into their branding, makes everything look clean and professional, keeps the messaging broad enough to not alienate anyone, and then gets frustrated because the people showing up either don't buy, don't get the offer, or treat the whole thing like a price comparison game.

And the instinct is always the same: "maybe I need a rebrand." New colors, new fonts, fresh visual direction. But the visual identity was never the problem. The problem is that nothing in the brand strategy ever made a decision about who it's for and, more importantly, who it's not for.

That's the part nobody wants to do, because saying "this is specifically for you" also means saying "this is not for you" to everyone else. And when you're still growing, that feels like a terrible idea. So the branding stays safe and completely forgettable to the people who would have actually paid full price without blinking.

A brand that filters is a brand that works. The wrong people leaving is the system functioning. The space they free up is where the right ones finally recognize themselves in what you've built.
If your brand is getting attention but that attention doesn't move the needle, the fix lives in strategy before it lives in design.

And if you're ready to build a brand that actually says something on purpose, you know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️

A brand system is what happens when someone can open a box, receive an envelope, scan a badge, hand over a business card, see a digital ad on a wall, and land on a LinkedIn page, and every single one of those moments feels like the same brand said it. No guessing, no disconnect, no "wait, is this the same company?"

That's Beau Society. Every touchpoint was designed to carry the same weight, the same tone, the same level of intention. Because brand identity only works when it travels with the business everywhere it goes.

If your brand looks put together on Instagram but falls apart the second someone Googles you or opens your packaging, you know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️

This conversation still lives rent-free in my head because it perfectly captures the biggest misconception I see among founders: that branding and getting clients are two separate things. Your brand is what makes people understand you, trust you, and pick you over everyone else offering something similar. Without it, you're just hoping the right person stumbles onto your page and somehow figures it out on their own.

And yes, I meant what I said on slide 4. If you're early stage and still testing your offer, skip the branding. Validate first. But the second your business is working and you're still running on a Canva logo and a bio that says "passionate about helping people"......we need to talk.

Because every day you wait, the market is forming its own opinion about your brand and you don't get a say in what that opinion is. People don't send you a DM explaining why they didn't choose you. They just leave. Quietly. And that silence is the most expensive thing in your business right now.

If this post made you look at your own page differently, good. The market's version of your brand is never permanent. You can take that narrative back any time you decide to, you know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️

A brand guide is a group of decisions about who you are and who you're talking to. This is Verbatim's: every color, typeface, and word choice chosen with intention and strategy in mind.

Because vague brands don't convert, specific ones do.

If you're done being for everyone, you know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️

Yes I woke up and chose violence again 🙂‍↕️🫢

These are real thoughts I have during projects, sometimes at 2am in my bed or under the shower. The kind of things you think very loudly but never say because you still need to pay rent (and the Switch 2) 👾

The reason I can say them now? It’s because the founders I work with actually WANT. THIS. ENERGY.

They don't want a designer who nods along and delivers something safe. They want someone who's going to TELL THEM the TRUTH about their brand strategy, push back on their brand identity decisions, and build something that holds up in the REAL world.

So if any of these slides made you go "oh, she's talking about me"... good. That means you're paying attention to your branding and that's already more than most.

If you've got confessions of your own, drop them in the comments. I know you have them 👀

And if this is the energy you’re looking for in a brand designer partner, you know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️

Beau Society lives on billboards, wax-sealed packaging, app screens, membership folders, and a full social media grid.

Every single one of those is a different context, a different scale, a different level of attention from the person receiving it. And the brand feels like itself in all of them without anyone thinking twice about it.

That's what happens when branding is built on a real system instead of a collection of pretty files. Every new touchpoint becomes easier because the brand already knows what it wants to say and how it wants to look saying it.

If your brand works on Instagram but falls apart the second you put it on anything else, that's a system problem. And if you're ready to fix it, you know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️

Your brand is having full conversations with people you've never met.

On your website, on your feed, on your pricing page. And most of the time, you have zero idea what it's actually saying.

That's the thing about branding that nobody really warns you about, you can put together a beautiful website, post consistently, have solid offers, and still confuse people because none of those pieces were built from the same foundation. They were built at different times, with different energy, in different stages of your business.

And the result is a brand that sends mixed signals without you even realizing it.
The pricing looks premium but the Instagram feels scrappy. The website reads sharp and corporate but the CTA sounds like a casual DM from a friend. The color palette whispers calm while the imagery is screaming at full volume. Each piece looks fine on its own, but together they create this weird tension that the audience can't name but definitely feels. And when something feels off, people don't investigate.

They just leave.

The worst part? Nobody will tell you. They won't send you a message saying "hey your brand identity feels incoherent." They'll just quietly go with someone whose brand strategy made the decision easier for them.

Every single one of these signals comes down to the same root cause: no system. No brand strategy holding the pieces together. When your message, positioning, and visual direction are locked before anything gets designed, every touchpoint pulls from the same source. That's when branding actually works for you instead of against you.

If you recognized yourself in even one of those signals, that's not a bad thing. That's awareness, and awareness is where every strong brand starts. And if you want to fix it, you know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️

This is the brand equivalent to getting your life together. And I mean that literally.
You know that feeling when you finally clean your entire apartment, organize your closet, meal prep for the week, did your workout and solved that admin problem you’ve been sitting on for 2 months, and suddenly you feel on top of the world?

That's what a proper brand identity does for your business. Everything has a place, everything has a reason, everything works together so you stop second guessing yourself every time you need to post, pitch, or show up anywhere.

ByWalkens' brand guide covers the full system: logo variations and when to use each one, color palette with exact codes so nothing ever looks "off," typography rules, imagery direction, tone, layout, content creation. Every single page exists so that this brand can show up consistently whether it's on a website, a social post, a business card, or a billboard ten years from now.

Business owners don't realize how much mental energy they burn every day making tiny brand decisions that should already be made. What color do I use here? Does this font work? Does this feel like my brand or am I just winging it again? A brand guide eliminates all of that. It's the system that runs in the background so you can focus on actually growing your business instead of playing graphic designer at midnight.

If your brand still lives in your head and nowhere else, that's the gap. You know where to find me! 🙂‍↕️
