Happy Lab is here to give you hair that feels like YOU! I’m here to collaborate with you and help your vision come to life! If you have barely an idea or you’ve been crafting your vision for years, my consults are all about how you wear your hair, how you live in it, and finding a solution that fits!

My name is Kathryn (she/her) but I go by Kat or Kitty and I’m here to provide a salon experience that feels…different. This isn’t a traditional space. Here we celebrate gender expansiveness, personality and collaborative customization.

When you sit in my chair,

You are free to be you,
You are free to be silent
You are free to be shy
You are free to be anxious
You are free to be awkward

I offer silent services if you’re not interested in small talk, all you have to do is select silent service when you book.

I also do text consults so we can touch base before you even step foot in the salon so you can ask any questions, know where to park and all those little details.

Going to see a new stylist can be nerve racking not just because of your hair but because of the social expectations and I don’t want that to keep you from having an awesome experience 🫶

First things first: HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the most epic @stacymoffatt. Awesome human and also painter of my very loved Happy Lab Window Art.

Stacy is a local working artist and wasn’t sure what to do with her hair. Often my clients who work in a creative field have decision fatigue with their hair. Especially when you’ve done it all. When that happens, I ask a couple lifestyle questions,

✨How often do you want to come in?
✨How do you wear your hair (up or down)?
✨What colors are off limits?

Then I take over 🦄

I chose a shine line with combo highlights and airtouch:

🦄Whimsical
🦄Artistic
🦄Looks good with styling up or down
🦄Easy fade and retouch

Now she’s good to come back to the salon anytime within the next year because the grow out will be super seamless.

I always use @alkalibeauty Unicorn Lightener for my bleach and Unicorn Milk to prep before my vivid application. 💚🦄🥛

One of my favorite things is getting to share the excitement of a first time vivid client! Especially this appointment! What an absolute gem! We wanted something low maintenance and teal/ oceany vibes. I loved the way this one turned out with the melty/blendy dip dye. Thanks for coming to see me!!

She went home with the best combo of products from @alkalibeauty to keep vivids lasting as long as possible! Unicorn Milk leave in treatment and Unicorn shampoo and conditioner.

The final lewk! I’m always so happy that my clients let me do these big transformations. I looove the way someone’s entire demeanor can change based on a haircut or color.

Big thanks to @nenewhips for being in front of the camera and sharing your experience and to @beaterpan for being my videographer/photographer. It takes a team friends!

Dost thou even HOIST?!

Happy Lab is more than happy to host you and a couple friends to get your hair done together. You can have an audio book listening party, watch some trash tv, or just spend the time catching up on the latest work drama.

I don’t double book anymore (take multiple clients at once) but happily make the exception if all my clients know each other. It’s a super fun experience and you get a little photo shoot afterward! DM me to make it happn! (Not bookable online)

Use dry shampoo between washes when you got vivids! It helps keep your color longer!

My faves will always be listed in my linktree at the link in my bio or on my website. Best believe each of the links support me with a little commission as well.

I always support small and local so you know my recs are legit. I love a non aerosol dry shampoo and my go to is hairstory powder or cult and king dry shampoo.

When you use dry shampoo you gotta spray and WAIT 5 or so minutes at least before shaking or brushing out the product.
