A big thank you to all donors and sponsors for your support

A couple of months ago we had a major problem with our bank account and we lost access to use the Wise account that we used to received all of our donations in to. Thankfully, we did not lose any funds, but this has meant that all of our sponsors and donors who had regular payments to us set up, we have now lost by default 😭 for those who are still supporting and have donated via PayPal in the mean time, we are truly truly grateful, we also know that some of our donors and sponsors may not have been aware of the trouble we were facing.

Now that we have our new donation platform, it is so so easy to set up a recurring monthly donation to support us.

We are so grateful for the support we already receive, but this trouble the last few months, and losing our automatic monthly payments, has left a big hole in our bank account and we are very short of funds 😭

We only have a few days left to reach our target to pay our annual rent due this month, and every contribution goes SUCH a long way to helping us keep our animal sanctuary open and to keep all our animals safe and off the streets.

💔 My beautiful Hazel 💔

A few days ago, I had to witness my beloved Hazel suffer tremendous pain for two long hours. I tried everything I could to help her, but nothing worked. Finally, she died in my arms.

I have tried to write about what happened, but the pain is simply too deep. I feel traumatised by the helplessness of watching her suffer and being unable to save her.

Hazel was such a lovely, happy girl, gentle with other dogs and adorable with humans. We believe she was poisoned, but we don’t know by what. I cannot bring myself to describe her symptoms or relive those terrible hours.

My heart is broken, and I need time to process what happened.

I am so sorry, my sweet Hazel, that I couldn’t protect you this time. I am so sorry you had to endure those two hours of suffering. I feel like I failed you, and I wish I could make it all disappear. 💔

I promise I will make it up to you when we meet again.

You will live in my heart forever, my darling girl. Rest peacefully until the day I come to be with you. 🩷🌈 by @happytailssamui

Our dear Timmy is with the stars since two days.
Difficult for me as again another goodbye of a soul so close to my heart. So many sincere one year ….

Timmy was a incredible character at Happy Tails.
Being partially disabled he was very strong minded as he had to defend his place in the pack, althought all the other dogs had a deep respect for him.
Timmy was a incredible warrior, never loosing hope, always standing up after falling.
He teached me resilience.
He was completely paralysed after a car accident and he ended in the best hands as @my.disabled.hairy.friends was at the time at DCRS and her magnificent hands gave him a second chance in life after she got him back walking!! A incredible succes that allowed Timmy to live with us for 11 years at Happy Tails where he has been happy and triving. Timmy was about 14 years which is incredible considering what he has been true and only suffered towards the end.
I tried the best I could to make his final time less uncomfortable.
How I miss this boy since his physical presence is not here anymore …..

In bed again, not feeling well at all.
Unfortunately, this seems to be happening more and more often.

I so want to do things, but my body doesn’t allow me to anymore.

That being said, I am so, so, so lucky to have wonderful and generous people here to help and take over when I need it, which allows me to take a few days to rest.

And that is why I want to specially thank, from the bottom of my heart, Tom Bonnefond-White who for more than a year and half has been helping at Happy Tails. Without him, I honestly don’t know where I would be.

I cannot describe how much support he gives me in running this place.

You are a true angel, Tom — a real gift from heaven for the animals and for me. I will never be able to thank you enough for everything you do. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

We (the animals and I) love you very, very much and are so thankful that you came into our lives. 🩷🩷🩷🩷

And he is not the only one, though, as we have had so many wonderful helpers lately. I cannot name them all, but I want to thank every single one of them with all my heart. ❤️

Our dear Pepito has left us two days ago.
His body was totally at the end.
He was such a strong boy, even to the end would he still get up and walk around and be hungry like he always was.

He used to be one of my street dogs I was feeding about 15 years ago.
His Little tail would never stop wagging. He was struggling with skin problems and after trying to get him better where he was living at the time on a big road where cars were racing which eventually killed his mother and brother, i decided to take him to my sanctuary where he lived for many years in a safe environnement where I could take better care of his skin problems.

He was such a bullie boy but funny!
He totally trived here and regularly went on big walks by himself after which he would always return.

Three days ago he finally collapsed and couldn’t get up anymore.
I took him into the kitchen side which he still enjoyed for one and a half day as he was so obcessed with food 🩷
But the end had to come as his heart, kidneys, liver .. we’re all so tired.
I stayed with him for his last 4 hours, giving him love and reassurance that all was well and that it was time to go.
He past away in my arms in a natural way.

We miss you a lot my dear Pepito, what a character you were, I know you feel better where you are now and I will be reunited with you and all the others when it is my time.

In memory of Ryan 🤍

In January 2025, our world was changed forever when one of our amazing volunteers, Ryan, was tragically killed in a moped accident. Ryan was and always will be a huge part of the Happy Tails family, and we will always miss him so much.

On August 29th, Ryan’s mum Julie and some of his friends & family will be climbing the highest peak in Northern Ireland, 13 times up and down to represent the 26 wonderful years of Ryan’s life.

The money raised from this challenge will be split between Happy Tails and Portadown Wellness Centre, who provide invaluable grief & trauma counselling to those who need it.

Please, if you can donate anything, support Ryan’s loved ones and help us to continue our mission of animal rescue & welfare, in memory of the amazing Ryan.

A week of heartbreak. Saying goodbye to Feather and Misha. 💔 Feather was my calm, independent boy for 15 beautiful years. From a tiny, sick puppy rescued at Tong Krut pier to a cherished, spoiled senior dog, he lived a life of pure love.Misha was my gentle forest rescue who became the ultimate big sister to Spooky, my disabled kitty. Seeing the unique bond they shared warmed my heart every single day. Her sudden departure has left us in complete shock.I couldn’t bring myself to write this until now. The pain is heavy, and the house feels entirely too quiet. Spooky and I are leaning on each other as we learn to live through this grief.Rescuing them was the greatest privilege. Mango in France:

Another Koh Samui doggie has made it to his forever home in France with his adopter Christophe Coudre.
It always makes me so happy to see a dog which was chased away from humains here finally find peace and happiness.
