An emergency unfolded at Jo's Joint today, proving that teamwork really does make the dream work when saving street dogs! 🐾

6 of our cheeky pups chewed through the fence line at the house and feasted on fermenting durian seeds. Fermented fruit and seeds cause severe dog toxicity and poisoning, requiring immediate emergency veterinary care.

The moment we spotted them, it was all hands on deck:

🛻 Happy Tails Sanctuary rushed over with their truck to help transport all 6 dogs safely & provide some spare fencing panels

🏥 Happy Doggo Hospital provided immediate emergency vet treatment upon arrival.

❤️ The entire Dee's Dogs team appeared at the house to help our ailing pups & fix the fencing.

Every dog needed blood tests, IV fluids, activated charcoal, and anti-nausea, antibiotic, and antihistamine injections. They are feeling rough, but the vets confirmed all 6 dogs will make a full recovery! ❤️🩹

While half our team helped manage the dogs at Happy Doggo, the other half repaired the fence line and poured concrete into the ground to try and prevent this from happening again & ensured our unaffected dogs had plenty of love & cuddles.

Happy Tail, c'est un refuge créé et organisé par Françoise, une personne magnifique avec un cœur immense, suffisamment grand pour tous ces animaux qu'elle recueille, parfois quand ils sont très mal en point.

Son refuge compte approximativement une cinquantaine de chiens et une quarantaine de chats.

Il faut savoir que sur cette île et plus généralement en Thaïlande, les chiens de rue sont partout, et parfois certains ont désespérément besoin d'un foyer.

J'ai travaillé dans son refuge @happytailssamui durant 6 semaines sur l'île de Koh Samui et j'y ai passé 6 semaines incroyables que je n'oublierai jamais où j'ai rencontré de super personnes.

Si jamais vous passez par la Thaïlande et que l'envie vous prend d'avoir un chien affectueux et adorable, vous savez où aller !

my 💌 to Koh Samui :
For the past three months, I have been falling in love in Thailand.

I left New York City with just myself and two backpacks. I had my life there, my people, my routines, the comfort of the familiar. And then a one way plane ticket was bought…

What I didn’t say out loud before I left was how much I was also carrying. Things I was navigating from thousands of miles away, weight that didn’t disappear just because I had crossed an ocean. But I kept going anyway.

The island asked everything of me. Navigate this. Figure that out. Sit with the uncertainty. And so I did. I found a place to live. I found work that gave me purpose. I got a scooter — and at first my hands shook on the handles, and then one day they didn’t. I made friends in a place where I knew absolutely no one. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, I realized: I didn’t know I could do any of this alone. But I did.

On difficult nights and mornings, I called friends back home just to hear a familiar voice. They held me from across the world the way only people who truly know you can.

But Samui surprised me. People who had known me for weeks, not years, showed up with open arms anyway. No history, no obligation — just warmth. That kind of love stopped me in my tracks.

Somewhere along the way, instead of picking up Thai, I found myself learning French and a little German… Merci beaucoup and danke to my friends who taught me

And then there were the animals.
I volunteered at Happy Tails Samui, an animal sanctuary here on the island. I showed up to give — to feed, to clean, to comfort creatures who had known uncertainty too. What I didn’t expect was how tenderly they would give back. How a dog leaning into your leg or a cat choosing your lap can quietly rearrange something inside you.

I have always known I am capable of giving love. What Koh Samui taught me is that I am also allowed to receive it — freely, and without conditions.

This island held me when I needed it most. I will carry it with me always. 🐾🛵🌺

Francoise and all of the volunteers here do the most amazing job❤️. TRABALHO EM TROCA DE HOSPEDAGEM NA TAILÂNDIA 🇹🇭 ❤️Há 14 anos, uma mulher saiu da Bélgica, seu país de origem, e seguiu seu coração: veio para Koh Samui, uma ilha na Tailândia, com o intuito de viver para ajudar os animais. Hoje, a casa em que ela vive se tornou um Santuário para, atualmente, 62 cachorros e 36 gatos resgatados das ruas 🐶😽
Assim como ela, eu e todos os voluntários que aqui chegam, fomos guiados unicamente pelo nosso coração. E podem ter certeza: escutar nosso coração (e intuição) é sempre o melhor caminho! ❤️ Os animais do santuário foram resgatados das ruas e agora têm a vida que merecem, após tantas superações. Eles têm, diariamente, longos passeios pela floresta ao redor da casa, refeições balanceadas e aventuras nas praias e cachoeiras da ilha. A ajuda financeira vem somente de doações, e os voluntários ajudam a cuidar do local e dos animais.
Como o lugar não suporta mais animais, ainda temos a missão de alimentar os que vivem nas ruas, todos os dias; e medicá-los, se necessário.
Aqui, o amor, a empatia, a bondade e a simplicidade prevalecem, e através de tantos aprendizados e lições , passamos a enxergar a vida de uma outra forma🍀Ser voluntário não é fácil, é sair totalmente da sua zona de conforto, é se entregar de corpo e alma, é se virar com o que tem (literalmente), é valorizar as coisas mais simples do dia a dia (e agradecer por todas elas), é saber ser humilde, é enfrentar obstáculos com toda sua força, é abdicar do materialismo, é enxergar a sua essência e a do outro, é superar seus próprios limites, é imergir num contexto que te envolve profundamente, é se sentir vivo!💫
E tudo se torna mais fácil quando o AMOR está envolvido!💓
Tenho profunda gratidão a Deus pela benção de ter vivido essa experiência tão enriquecedora e profunda🙏❤️

After her mum went missing a few days ago.. Wrinkles needed somewhere safe to stay.

They have been living on an old shooting range where the volunteers at @happytailssamui looked after them on a daily basis…

Wrinkles is the only puppy left who have survived 🥺😔

And now her mum has gone missing and no one can find her🥺

Decided to pick her up today to make sure she is safe now not having her mum around.

Such a sweet, fun, loving puppy who honestly just wants love ❤️

Such a humbling experience with @happytailssamui ❤️ I was lucky enough to accompany Tom, Emily and Ruby and some pups on one of their daily walks. These amazing humans have dedicated their lives to helping Happy Tails Sanctuary care for over 50 abandoned dogs and 30 stray cats rescued from the streets of Koh Samui, Thailand. These lucky pups call this sanctuary their forever home ❤️

We stand fully with @robs_dogs on this and feel this deeply.
Running an animal rescue project as women, as foreigners, and unpaid — comes with so much invisible weight.

We’re pouring our hearts, time, and our own money into this mission. Working around the clock, without salary. And yet, there are days it feels like all we get in return is criticism, gossip, entitlement, and sometimes even betrayal from people we trusted and supported.

People take the work for granted. They take us for granted.
And when we try to hold the line — whether it’s with staff, standards, or decisions — we’re “too strict,” “too emotional,” or just plain wrong.

Honestly? It’s exhausting.
But we’re not alone. And we’re not backing down.

We’re proud to stand with this incredible sisterhood of women across the world who are fighting for animals every day — often underfunded, under-supported, and underestimated.
To all the fierce women in the post of @robs_dogs we see you, we admire you, and we feel you. 💪🏼💚

Because if people are talking, it means you’re doing something that matters.
Let them talk. We’ll keep doing the work.
