A little preparation goes a long way. Check the weather, know your route, pack the essentials, and understand local regulations before heading out.

Be mindful on the trails.

Staying on designated trails helps protect fragile plants and keeps trails in great shape for everyone. If you come across mud, walking or riding right through it helps prevent trails from getting wider over time.

🚮Pack It In, Pack It Out

Leave nothing behind.

Everything you bring into the outdoors should leave with you. Pack out all trash, food scraps, and pet waste to help keep our trails clean and our wildlife healthy.

🪻Leave What You Find

Protect what makes Grand County special.

Part of the magic of Grand County is discovering wildflowers, unique rocks, and other natural treasures along the way. Leaving them where you found them helps preserve that experience for everyone.

🔥Be Careful with Fire

Help prevent wildfires.

Fire conditions can change quickly in Grand County. Check current fire restrictions before your trip, follow local regulations, and do your part to help prevent wildfires. Keep campfires small, never leave them unattended, and make sure they’re completely out before you leave.

🫎Protect Wildlife

Give our critters space.

Observe wildlife from a safe distance and never feed them. Keeping wildlife wild helps protect both animals and people.

What an incredible National Public Lands Day! 💚

A huge THANK YOU to the sponsors, partners, volunteers, land managers, community organizations, and businesses who helped make this year’s event such a success.Together, volunteers tackled 12 projects across Grand County, giving back to the public lands and waters that make this place so special. Projects ranged from trail maintenance and restoration to trash cleanups, river cleanups, revegetation, habitat improvements, and other stewardship work throughout the county.

National Public Lands Day is a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared commitment to caring for the places we all love. Every bag of trash collected, section of trail improved, native plant restored, and hour volunteered makes a difference. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed their time, funding, expertise, equipment, food, coordination, and energy to make the day possible.Thank you for showing up for Grand County’s public lands and waters - and for helping care for them for the generations that come next. 🏔️
