SICK OF IT ALL live August 3, 1995 at The Pit in Rockford, Illinois on the “Scratch the Surface” tour. The Pit was an all ages skate park / DIY venue, and it was pretty wild to get to catch them play in this kind of intimate setting with what felt like 100 or less people. I see a lot of friends and familiar faces in the crowd. Of course the band brought 110% and it was a blast. The 4-Squares, and The Hitmen also played. There is a video of this show on the internet. I also interviewed Lou for my zine Viewpoint at this show, the audio currently lives on a mini cassette. Rest in peace Lou.

SAMHAIN flyer from their show in Chicago at the Cabaret Metro on the November Coming Fire tour April 13, 1986. A recording from this show appeared on the official live album “Live ‘85–‘86” first released as part of the SAMHAIN box set in September of 2000, then later as a stand alone release in 2001. Tracks 11–18 are from this show, and included 3 Misfits covers. The line up was Glenn Danzig, Eerie Von, Pete “Damien” Marshall, and London May for this tour and recording. Chicago bands Rights Of The Accused, and Impulse Manslaughter opened the show, presented by Last Rights. I love that the bottom of the flyer states that you can buy tickets at Wax Trax! Big thanks to @deadxstop / @oldchicagoflyers for hooking up this original flyer for the collection.

MADBALL live at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago, Illinois. January 12, 1995. Downset, and Dog Eat Dog were also on the bill. This would’ve been on the “Set it Off” tour, after its release on Roadrunner Records in 1994. This lineup featured members of Agnostic Front, Dmize, and Blind Approach.

Godspeed flyer for their “Swimmer’s Ear” EP released by Temperance Records in December of 1993. Godspeed was a short lived band from New Jersey featuring members of Turning Point, Shadow Season, Pointless, Memorial Day, Lenora and more. Likely picked up this little ad at a distro table and eagerly awaited this release. Vinyl version reissued in 2017 by Sky Valley Records.

UNBROKEN “Crushed On You” 7” one sheet promo. This was sent to distributors before its original release in 1995 on New Age Records. I ran a distro at the time and this came within the Revelation Records / Network Sound catalog.

1993, Snapcase in Valparaiso, Indiana. Hometown show for me that Iain Stability booked. My band Failsafe opened. Chicago’s Everlast played instead of Line Drive. A legendary show in the Region. Silence always crushed live. I have a video of most of the show that needs to be digitized. Anyone else there?

HEADFIRST live at an outdoor show. Date and location unknown. This print was part of a collection that I purchased in the mid 90s with a bunch of records, shirts, and flyers. There are about 50 photos, most of which have credits written on the back, this one has the band name and “Pic by Justin A.” It looks like it may have been used in a zine. Please comment if you have information on the location or photographer credit.

HEADFIRST were a progressive hardcore/punk band from Orange County, California that existed between 1987-1992. Their 7”s and “The Enemy” LP were in heavy rotation when I was growing up, and I always felt a similarity between them and bands like Billingsgate, Worlds Collide, Bloodline, Vision, and others that were pushing the sound of hardcore. Dan O’ Mahoney released a 7” and their only LP on his Workshed record label. Their complete recordings are available today via Indecision Records. The band featured members of 411, Farside, Smile, Downer, God Forgot, and more.
