Day 3 & 4 trekking to Everest Base Camp.

Distance: 36km / 120km
Altitude: 3,850m / 5,364m

Yesterday was an acclimatisation day in Namche and this place might honestly be the most impressive town I’ve ever visited.

There are no roads here.

Which sounds fairly normal for a rural mountain village until you look around and realise Namche is a full blown town 3,400m up, deep in the Himalayas 🤣

Hotels. Restaurants. Irish pub 👀 Tattoo shops (see last slide)👀👀

Every single thing needed to build and supply this place has made its way up here by donkey, human or the occasional helicopter.

Mad.

For me though, the most impressive part has been the people.

The sheer graft of making life happen up here, the hospitality, the infrastructure they’ve managed to build this deep into the mountains. It’s honestly like nothing I’ve seen before.

We’re nearly 4,000m up with hot showers, proper beds and about 20 different dinner options on the menu🤣

Par for the course on most treks this remote would be ration packs and a tent that may or may not be waterproof & tbh I’d be happy with that.

HOWEVER…

Things are starting to get a little more tasty now.

A few of the team are beginning to feel the altitude and tomorrow we head above 4,000m for the first time.

So far everyone is holding steady.

But I get the feeling the mountain is about to start asking a few more questions🗻

Day 1 & 2 trekking to Everest Base Camp.

Distance: 21km / 120km
Altitude: 3,450m / 5,364m

Yesterday started with a quick flight into what’s been dubbed ‘the world’s most dangerous airport’.

Mainly because the runway is just over 500m long and hanging off the side of a fat mountain 🤣

I personally thought it was unreal.

The scenes out here have been world class. I’ve been lucky enough to see some pretty wild places over the years, but the sheer scale of these mountains is unlike anything I’ve seen before.

Major big dog energy.

Something much better experienced in person rather than photos but I’ll give it a crack.

The group we have out here are crazy inspiring.

Different people from different backgrounds with different reasons for being here, but everyone united in their desire to show themselves how capable they are.

Against some absolutely mad odds aswell.

Firing me up getting to spend time with them all. I’ll share more of their stories as we get further into the mountains.

Biggest reminder for me so far is that lack of confidence kills way more dreams than lack of ability ever could. Back yourself! Find out!!

We have hit tarmac in
Kathmandu, Nepal🇳🇵Ready for action💪

Tomorrow we start the trek to Everest base camp double lively. Today we got about the city, learning about the Nepali culture and getting final preparations sorted.

This is now @hardestadventures 4th free trip I’ve had the honour of hosting. So I want to say a massive thank you to all of you who have supported our growth and help make these special trips possible, it means a lot that together we can have this kind of impact.

It also makes me buzz to see this community be so ferocious in the pursuit of adventure, so please keep that going and keep backing eachother!

The group we have with us for this one is a really inspiring bunch and I’m buzzing to share updates with how we get on over the next couple weeks or so.

Mount Kilimanjaro summit (5,895m) 🏔️🇹🇿

A brutal 6.5 hour climb through the night from base camp at 4700m. Easily the single hardest thing I’ve ever done and an emotional one for sure. After over 1000m of elevation, we reached Stella point (5756m) just in time for the most incredible sunrise which recharged us to push on to the summit of Kilimanjaro

100% summit success for the team @hardestadventures 😎🤙🏽 Couldn’t ask for a better group of people to share this experience with and no better way to top off the best experience than everyone reaching the summit together

One team, one dream 🇹🇿🧡

These trips wouldn’t be possible without the incredible team of cooks, porters and guides on the ground who make everything run seamlessly and bring so much life and energy every single day on the mountain

HA TURNS 1! And boy what a ride it’s been 🧡

From our launch 12 months ago, to countless late nights, things we didn’t see coming, and plenty of lessons learned, it’s been tough, but it’s been worth it…

Hardest Geezer is running the Barcelona marathon, and we want you to join him.

We’ve teamed up with @therunningcharity, who exists to reach the young people furthest from help and most in need, who they then stay with until their lives actually change.

So if you want to fundraise and really make a difference to the world around you, now is the perfect time. The most affordable way to join this trip is also the one that does the most good. When you can fundraise £1,000 (more achievable than you think!), your reg fee for the full marathon package is only £150. Call that 20 pints or a pair of trainers.

Sounds too good to be true. But really, it’s just the best way to use adventure to support those in need.
