Still can’t quite get my head around Lisbon Marathon 😮‍💨

I was at Lisbon this year, shooting the marathon with @hardestadventures & @jamesdoyle, and the atmosphere was something else. The streets were packed the whole way round and people were cheering for complete strangers like they were best mates. Half the time I was meant to be getting shots and I just ended up stood there taking it all in. Never seen anything like it.

Standing at the finish line with a camera in my hand, watching it all unfold, was genuinely surreal. The joy on every finisher’s face with cheers from the crowd beating all around me. Special.

It’s motivated me to start training for my next marathon (see you in Barca @hardestgeezer 😉) and it’s one I’ll be thinking about for a very long time.

So question is, when’s your next race?

Just arrived back in the UK after the most surreal few weeks in Nepal🇳🇵

It all started with a call from @hardestgeezer, and an absolutely mad offer to join him on a trek to Everest base camp (with just 6 weeks’ notice🤪)

I’d never trekked at altitude before, and 11 days of hiking would be tough, but I was absolutely NOT going to turn down the chance to get to EBC!!

Together with a team of truly incredible humans, all with our own reasons for being there, we made it to Everest base camp - 5,364m above sea level🏔️

My body and my mind have been through some pretty hard times over the past few years, and one thing I’ve learnt is that I’m capable of so much more than I thought was possible.

Getting to EBC was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. It tested my limits both mentally and physically. There were definitely points I didn’t think I’d get there. But once again, I proved to myself that I can do more than I realise.

Here’s to saying yes to doing more hard things💙

Next year I’ll be running the @paris.marathon for @mqmentalhealth, partnered with @hardestadventures

Mental health affects all of us, whether it’s ourselves, our mates or our family. Too many people struggle in silence, and research is how we get better treatment, better support and fewer people feeling like they’re on their own.

On 4th April 2027 I’ll be taking on 26.2 miles through the streets of Paris. It’ll be my second marathon after Manchester this year!

Any help is massively appreciated, whether that’s donating or sharing this post! I’ll be documenting the whole journey on my TikTok (@harveyholden_), plus running different challenges to raise as much money as possible!
