I’m an artist!

The past decade I worked on restoring my relationship with my mother who I didn’t speak to for 12 years.

Until at the age of 26 things changed and that became the start of my deep journey of healing and restoration.

Throughout the process I changed deeply and my character was chiselled in ways that changed my perspective in life.

Even though the journey was a dark season of struggle, I was able to see the light of Christ through it all. The beauty blooming out of darkness so my heritage could be restored.

Now I feel more grounded knowing I have peace with my mother after such a difficult childhood.

For those that don’t know me…

The most important moments aren’t always captured. The stages of great change are often accompanied by deep thought, followed by significant action…and in my case, beautiful flowers and insightful revelations.

The transformation over the past decade has been life-changing. Although I kept quiet about a lot, I’m grateful I chose the silence to dig deep and work on my character.

Back in 2013/2014, I was a photographer and studio assistant on sets for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, working at Loft Studios, interning at Milk Studios and Fast Ashley’s NYC, building my own portfolio and shooting models from AMCK, Models1 and Elite.

From the outside, it looked like momentum.

But inwardly, I knew I was building on the wrong foundation…without Christ.

So I left.

I left it all behind. I didn’t speak about it. I didn’t explain it. I chose to become a nobody when I was on my way to becoming a somebody, just so I could build on the right foundation.

I became a coffee barista. And along the way, I found boxing and got trained by British champions and veterans of the sport. Delved deeper in my relationship with Jesus Christ and entered the world of property and business..and in the midst of the journey I became a mother.

Intense but so rewarding.

For over a decade, I have been digging deep and laying a new foundation as a woman…reconstructing, realigning, recreating.

The beauty of becoming

I’m Indian, I’m Christian, I’m 37, and I’m a bit embarrassed to admit these three things.

1. I can barely speak Punjabi.

I understand the basics when I hear it, but I can barely hold a conversation. Growing up, I was called a ā€œbountyā€, brown on the outside, white on the inside.

2. I gave my life to Christ in 2010, but I didn’t understand what it meant to follow Him.

I had no Bible, no church and no discipleship. Even after living with a Catholic family in 2013, I still didn’t understand much about what it meant to follow Jesus.

Then, in 2017, I started boxing. I experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit, my spiritual eyes and ears opened and I became deeply convicted of my sin. No one told me to repent, no one mentioned the name of Jesus. It was simply a powerful move of the Holy Spirt.

My life has never been the same since.

3. I spent years resenting my own femininity.

I grew up in a family where the boys were favoured over the girls, and no matter how hard I tried to be ā€œgoodā€ there was unreasonable amounts of abuse. For years, I suppressed my femininity.

It was only after I became a mother and had my daughter that I dug deep to break the generational patterns. I came to understand the spiritual root behind a lot of the problems in my bloodline came from Babylonian practices.

Its taken a long time to finally feel free, but being the first Christian in my family means I had a lot of generational bondage to break.

I’m still learning. Still growing. Still becoming.

But I’m no longer ashamed of the things I once struggled to understand about myself.

I now finally feel confident in who I am in Christ, an identity that not based on my bloodline, but an identity that based on the word of God

I’ve noticed Christians who are serious about understanding the word usually have sharper discernment..

And in a world where everyone has a strong opinion, I want to make sure I’m staying grounded in Scripture and developing a clear understanding of the Word of God.

Here are three practices that have genuinely transformed the way I study the Bible to help me sharpen my discernment…and help you sharpen yours too!

1. Study the original Hebrew and Greek.

I use Strong’s Concordance through the Blue Letter Bible app to explore the original meanings of words in Scripture. This was a game changer for me because it helped me look beyond the English translation and examine the meaning behind the words.

2. Study the law of first mention.

When I’m studying a particular word or concept in depth, I look at where it first appears in the Bible. This can provide valuable insight into how a theme is introduced and developed throughout Scripture. I always consider the wider context rather than building an entire interpretation around one occurrence.

3. Meditate on a few Scriptures for weeks or even months.

Rather than rushing through multiple chapters, I sometimes focus on just three to five Scriptures. I reflect on their meaning, ask myself questions, and engage in an ongoing dialogue as though I’m teaching myself what the passage means.

This is where I often have my biggest aha moments and experience deeper revelation.

Laser focus and a hunger to understand the integrity of God’s Word have caused my paradigms to shift more times than I can count.

This is why I never get bored with Scripture.

The more I study, the more I discover. What once seemed two-dimensional begins to take on depth, structure and meaning.

This is how my discernment has been sharpened, and these are practices that can help you deepen your own understanding, too.

Save this for your next Bible study, and share it with someone who wants to grow in their understanding of God’s Word.

How you see yourself shapes what you dare to build.

For years, I didn’t realise how much my beliefs about myself were influencing my creative work.

When I began working in fashion, my portfolio was almost entirely menswear. Looking back, I can see how my experiences growing up influenced the way I viewed femininity, and how that perception shaped what I felt comfortable creating.

It taught me something important.

The beliefs we carry don’t just influence how we see ourselves. They can influence the decisions we make, the opportunities we pursue and the things we believe we’re capable of building.

Whether you’re building a business, investing in property, creating a home or establishing a legacy for the next generation, your strategy matters. But so does the perspective behind your decisions.

Sometimes, moving forward requires more than a better plan. It requires a new understanding of yourself.

For me, that transformation began when I started seeing myself through the light of Christ rather than through the limitations of my past.

Because building something that lasts begins with the foundations you lay today.

What are you building for the next generation?

With the British autumn season here, I decided to make myself a new jacket.

I love the process of creating something with my own hands, choosing the details, working with the fabric and bringing an idea to life.

For me, fashion is more than what we wear. It’s an expression of creativity, confidence and personal identity.

I’m drawn to timeless fashion, British heritage, quality craftsmanship and pieces that can be treasured for years rather than replaced every season.

The same philosophy guides my approach to art, home and the things I choose to build. Whether it’s an original painting, a carefully considered wardrobe or a home filled with meaning, I believe the things we create should have substance.

Because building a legacy begins with how we approach the everyday things we make.

For years, I struggled with perfectionism because I was trying to be enough for people who never seemed satisfied.

Growing up, I wanted my parents to love me and be pleased with me. But no matter how hard I tried, how how my grades were, how well behaved I was, it never felt like enough.

As I got older, I began to understand more about why they were the way they were. And with that understanding came a choice: I could continue building on old foundations, or allow God to establish something new in me.

I began learning to be grateful for the way God created me, seeing myself through His eyes rather than my own.

Looking back, I realise that even when I struggled, I always found a way to create, whether through fashion, art or another medium.

Being adaptable will teach you more than staying stuck in your excuses.

But creativity, for me, has never been just about making something beautiful. It’s about the position of my heart while I create.

When I’m aligned with the way, the Word and the truth of Christ, I can become a vessel for His presence to express itself through my work.

And when that happens, something shifts. Not just in what I create, but in the atmosphere around me.

Whether through original art, fashion or the spaces we build into our homes, I believe what we create can carry meaning beyond its appearance.

Because true beauty is more than what we see. It’s the atmosphere that nourishes growth so that’s you can truly blossom from within.

And that’s the sound of peace. šŸ¤

If this spoke to you, send it to someone who needs the reminder that they don’t have to be perfect to become who God created them to be.

What if one flower could hold an entire story?

Welcome to the start of my new collection!

A series of original art that can hold a memory, tell a story and change the atmosphere of a room without saying a word.

I’m drawn to creating artwork that feels at home within heritage interiors, heritage maximalism and refined contemporary spaces. Pieces that bring colour, depth and meaning into the places where we live, build businesses, raise families and create our legacy.

Because your home should be more than beautiful.

It should reflect who you are becoming and what you are building.

This painting is part of my new smalls collection which will soon be available.

More to come! Follow along @harjitkaurcreates for updates on the new collection šŸŒŗā¤ļø

I didn’t find beauty by escaping my darkest season. I found it by learning to see it differently.

I left New York when my photography career was beginning to take off, having worked as a photographer and studio assistant on sets for Vogue.

But beneath the career, I was carrying something I could no longer outrun.

I hadn’t seen my mother for 12 years.

Therefore, I left New York and the fashion industry and began a decade-long journey of rebuilding our relationship.

It was one of the hardest seasons of my life.

I had became a nobody when I was on my way to become a somebody.

But through it, my faith in Christ deepened, my character was strengthened, and I began to see my past and my mother through the eyes of Christ rather than through the lens of my own pain.

That changed the way I saw everything.

And eventually, it changed the way I created.

My floral art became a way of expressing what I had experienced: restoration, beauty, femininity, faith, creativity and the possibility of new life after difficult seasons.

That through my transformation, mother was also able to experience a transformation of her own.

This is why original art matters to me.

Art isn’t simply something beautiful to hang in your home. It can hold memory, meaning and the stories that shape us. It can become part of the atmosphere of a home and, ultimately, part of the legacy we build.

For me, creating art is about more than decoration.

It is about creating beauty with substance.

If you believe your home should hold more than beautiful things, follow along and explore the original artwork behind these stories on my website.

Red poppies, painted in acrylic against a black background. An original painting from my upcoming collection, The Passion of Christ.

After the First World War, red poppies became a symbol of remembrance, inspired by the flowers that grew across the devastated battlefields of Flanders.

Their vivid red petals evoke sacrifice, loss and the preciousness of life.

Within this painting, the poppies invite reflection on the ultimate sacrifice: Jesus Christ, who willingly gave His life for humanity so that we could be reconciled to God.

The contrast between the red petals and the darkness creates a visual reminder of His suffering, while the story of His resurrection points us towards hope beyond death.

As an artist, I’m drawn to the way original art can transform a space. A single painting can introduce colour, create atmosphere and become part of the story a home tells.

Whether you’re styling a heritage interior, creating a considered gallery wall or adding character to a contemporary home, small original paintings offer an opportunity to bring personality and meaning into your space.

Because building a beautiful home isn’t simply about how it looks. It’s about the memories we create, the values we carry and the legacy we’re building within it.

The Passion of Christ, a new collection of small original paintings, coming soon. ā¤ļø

There is something deeply powerful about heritage maximalism.

Really brings a feeling a nostalgia for me, growing up we had alot of burgandy! Burgandy furniture, carpets, rugs…it’s a colour that carries a lot of memory.

It’s the one colour my mum loved a lot, and growing up I didn’t have much of a good relationship with her. But it was something that reminded me of her.

And after a decade of working on my relationship with her (and after 12years of no contact). The colour has become a way of reminding me of how our relationship was restored, after years of effort and patience.

The timeless feel of heritage.

Whether you are looking for a statement piece or crafting a beautiful environment for your family, this painting is about more than just decor. It is about creating a lasting legacy through art.

8weeks pregnant I was sparring and I had no idea I was pregnant!

Before having my daughter I was obsessed with boxing, I wanted to compete and dedicate my life to boxing. I’d train 3-4 times a day..I was obsessed!

But at the same time deep down I really wanted more, I was exhausted from being in the gym and running off what was actually deep rooted trauma.

As a child I would stay behind school for hours every day doing sports just to avoid going home to an abusive environment. It seemed to have stayed with me through my adult years.

But becoming a mother challenged me in ways that literally broke me further than any training I’d ever done before.

It drew me deeper in my faith and I was able to break free from so many generational patterns. Having my daughter took me on a journey that changed the woman I thought I wanted to be.

I returned to sewing and painting and started learning about property, being around others who are big on legacy building. I realised that they too had the same fighting spirit as many my old boxing coaches who were former champions.

Although, I’m not able to train like I did before having my daughter..I realised that motherhood is another kind of sport!

As for me and my house we will train like champions, sharpen our skills and serve the Lord.
