For years, I struggled with perfectionism because I was trying to be enough for people who never seemed satisfied.
Growing up, I wanted my parents to love me and be pleased with me. But no matter how hard I tried, how how my grades were, how well behaved I was, it never felt like enough.
As I got older, I began to understand more about why they were the way they were. And with that understanding came a choice: I could continue building on old foundations, or allow God to establish something new in me.
I began learning to be grateful for the way God created me, seeing myself through His eyes rather than my own.
Looking back, I realise that even when I struggled, I always found a way to create, whether through fashion, art or another medium.
Being adaptable will teach you more than staying stuck in your excuses.
But creativity, for me, has never been just about making something beautiful. It’s about the position of my heart while I create.
When I’m aligned with the way, the Word and the truth of Christ, I can become a vessel for His presence to express itself through my work.
And when that happens, something shifts. Not just in what I create, but in the atmosphere around me.
Whether through original art, fashion or the spaces we build into our homes, I believe what we create can carry meaning beyond its appearance.
Because true beauty is more than what we see. It’s the atmosphere that nourishes growth so that’s you can truly blossom from within.
And that’s the sound of peace. 🤍
If this spoke to you, send it to someone who needs the reminder that they don’t have to be perfect to become who God created them to be.
