In the bush last week with Naomi and Purav shooting new winter stuff for Alton. Venison stew in the jetboil for dinner and good yarns over a cup of tea. One of those shoots that doesn’t quite feel like work. @alton_goods

"Photography has always given me an excuse to go further and see more.

We spent a few weeks travelling through the Spanish and French Pyrenees, hiking between valleys, staying in mountain refuges and carrying everything we needed on our backs. I had the Helios with me along the way, carrying my camera gear through long days in the mountains.

But for me, trips like this have never just been about coming home with the big memorable photographs. It’s the changing weather, the small details, the unexpected light and everything that happens between photographs that makes being out there so memorable.

Megapixels are definitely not everything. But sometimes… they’re pretty damn useful.

102MP on the @fujifilmx_au GFX100II can result in some insane reframing. Like this image of the gigantic Ordesa valley in the Pyrenees.

Photographing South Australia’s wildlife at @monartosafariresort was the highlight of this trip. Shooting with the FUJINON XF150-600mmF5.6-8 R LM OIS WR allowed me to observe from the safari truck while capturing intimate moments without disturbing the animals.

A long day from the little town of Espot, carrying everything we needed for a night at Refugi d’Amitges, which sits nicely amongst the peaks of the Catalan Pyrenees.

One baguette, two very full packs (one weighed down with a LOT of camera gear) and a ridiculous number of alpine lakes later, we made it up for the night… having a hot Pyrenean dinner with people from all over the world.

One of my favourite adventures from our time in Spain.

40mm might be my sweet spot for travel photography. Wide enough to capture the environment, but still tight enough to pick out the smaller details, making a really natural field of view.

Five days in Mallorca with the GFX100 II + GF50mm f/3.5 and I honestly didn’t find myself wanting much else.

Beautiful Torla. We spent 5 nights here, right on the doorstep to Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park. Simple days. Good hearty Pyrenean food, great balcony views.
