Grandma’s breakfast

25ml single grain whisky
25ml pink grapefruit sherbet
75ml a touch of sparkle

The circumstance single grain is a complex but polite whisky with tons of character just like my grandma. Using three different types of organic barley as the base for this stunning golden liquid, they’re mashed then fermented for 14 days, distilled through a copper whisky hood and 4 plate column, then aged in European oak, ex bourbon and oloroso conditioned casks for 37 months.

My goal behind the drink was to try and keep things traditional and flavour forward, sticking to @circumstancedistillery core values.

I started by thinking of citrus when I remembered the old school breakfast my grandma used to make for me. In simple terms slice grapefruit covered in sugar and a pinch of salt, simple but packed with flavour.

With that in mind, I made a pink grapefruit sherbet which consisted of grapefruit peels and caster sugar at a 1:2 ratio. Then juicing, double straining and mixing the two together. To make the grapefruit flavour bolder I added a pinch of citric acid. taken in The Three Horseshoes by @harry_webby
