A year ago today, sitting around our kitchen table my brother in law said something that I desperately wanted to believe: the world needs more Nick Lambros right now.

That maybe the way we make sense of losing him was by taking a piece of him with us — by choosing connection, friendship, family, humor and love. By picking up the phone. Showing up. Bringing the fun. Finding common ground. Dancing when the music comes on.

By Living Like Nick
A year later, I don’t think I could have imagined what that would actually look like.

We watched friends, family — and people far beyond our circle — show up for our family in ways that have completely overwhelmed us.

At the Yankees vs. Mets Subway Series game. At the annual Live Like Nick Golf Classic. In every hug, story, toast, laugh, heckle, photo, donation and person who simply showed up.
And somewhere in all of it, I realized:

Dad is still doing his job.
We used to tease him for always being on his phone, but after he died, we realized he wasn’t just talking and texting. He was working overtime to keep everyone connected.
And somehow, one year later, he still is.

The friendships he built are becoming friendships between other people. The stories keep getting told. People who knew him for decades are standing beside people who barely knew him — or never even got the chance to — and they’re all helping us carry him forward.

That may be the greatest gift anyone could give our family.
Dad always told us we were rich. Not in dollars and cents. Rich in love.

This past year — and especially these past few weeks — you have all reminded us just how right he was.

So today isn’t only about marking one year since we lost him.
It’s about celebrating one year of watching his legacy keep growing.

Keep calling each other.
Keep showing up.
Keep sending the inappropriate texts.
Keep talking to strangers.
Keep heckling your friends.
Keep bringing the fun.
Keep dancing when you hear good music.

We miss you more than words can say, Dad.

But look at what you started. by @hartwickmbb

Our next Hall of Fame inductee is a Hartwick men's basketball legend, Tom Hendricks.

Tom Hendricks provided a consistent offensive spark throughout his three-year Hartwick career after transferring from Hamilton College. One of the most prolific scorers of his era, he surpassed the 1,000-point mark in just three seasons and finished his career with 1,124 points, 365 rebounds and 181 assists.

His finest season came in 1987-88, when he averaged 14.6 points per game while helping lead Hartwick to a 23-6 record and the only NCAA Final Four appearance in program history. Hendricks guided the team to 57 victories and three postseason appearances during his career, cementing his place among the program's all-time greats. taken in Lambros Arena by @hartwickmbb

Join us in paying homage to our 1973-74 team who is getting inducted into the Hall of Fame this Saturday- one of the most accomplished squads in Hartwick history. Guided by legendary head coach Dr. Roy Chipman and Hall of Famer Nick Lambros '71, the squad compiled a remarkable 23-4 campaign and established itself as one of the premier teams in the country.

The team opened the season with nine consecutive victories while capturing both the Potsdam Tournament and Bryant Christmas Tournament championships. Their consistency and resilience were evident throughout the year, suffering just three regular-season losses, none by more than six points.

Hartwick earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament and opened postseason play with an 81-72 victory over Siena before falling to eventual national champion Morgan State in a hard-fought regional contest. The season helped solidify Hartwick's standing as a regional basketball powerhouse and remains one of the defining campaigns in program history. taken in Lambros Arena by @hartwickmbb
