Our last incoming Post Bac to introduce is Jeremy Felton, @jfeltonpottery. Jeremy grew up on a small farm in Sebastopol, California. He first encountered ceramics at @batescollege where he was a Philosophy and Studio Art double major, and since graduating has continued to explore his interest in functional ceramics as the studio assistant at @watershedceramics . He makes functional pots that wonder what a handmade object can offer beyond utility, using the soda kiln atmosphere to leave a glimpse of the making process visible on the surface. Welcome, Jeremy!

The next Post Bac we would like to welcome is Maddy Edens @madeleineedens_ceramics 🌱 🌿🌱 “Hi! My name is Madeleine Edens, I received my BA in Biology from Boston University. My work draws from the enchantment and tactility of being immersed in natural environments, translating those sensations into functional objects. The surfaces of my pots reference textures such as tree bark, mushrooms, fallen leaves—inviting touch and interaction.” We are so glad to have Maddy join our community.

In her words: “Hi! My name is Kathryn. I got my undergraduate degrees in Art Education and Fine Arts from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. I have been pursuing ceramics for about 3 years. My work right now is inspired by the natural world and the human perception/exploitation of it, while also exploring personal narratives tied to my girlhood.“

Last weekend, we celebrated many @hartfordartschool accomplishments at the @nbmaa56 annual Nor’easter exhibit: current ceramics Post Bac Diana Deng @studio_deng and alumni Emily Albee @emily.albee both had their spectacular work selected, and Photo Faculty @robertcalafiore gave his juror’s talk to a packed crowd. We couldn’t be more proud of these and all the other HAS folks in the show. On view through Sept. 13 ~~ Don’t miss it!
