We did a thing, for real this time. With the uncertainty of what 2025 will bring, @braunwynwindhamburke and I decided to bump things up a bit and tie the knot a year+ early. With @philcobizzle officiating, @elisabeth.donaldson behind the camera, the kids by our side, and @timbolaura and @fayludes as our hype people, we exchanged vows and rings and had the most perfect “us” celebration. I’ve never been more in love, I’ve never been more at peace, and like I said in my vows, B, you will NEVER be without a teammate again. I love you. I love the kids. I love the dogs, and I love that you’re now officially Mrs. Windham-Spinner. taken in Franklin, Tennessee by @hashtag_blehssed

How do I describe this trip? It was a trip of contradictions, and I felt conflicted throughout it.

I’ve avoided Israel most of my life because I oppose what has been happening to Palestinians for decades. I’ve felt that way since I was 12. It’s why I never went on Birthright.

But when my stepdaughter moved here for a dance program, showing up to see her life and what she’s worked for became non-negotiable.
I can admit now that my belief that “Israel is not for me” was shortsighted.

A government is not its people. We met extraordinarily kind Israelis, including many who believe what is happening just miles away, and within Jerusalem, is unforgivable.

I also felt something I rarely get to feel: completely safe being openly Jewish. I loved being surrounded by other Jews and connecting with my spirituality out in the open. But traveling with my Muslim friend made that feeling more complicated.

There were times she felt unsafe and said, “I’m here with my Jewish friend.” There were times I felt unsafe and leaned on her identity for reassurance. We took turns finding safety in each other. I’m grateful we could, but it hurt that either of us needed to. At times, my safety felt like it came at her expense.

In Palestine, people met us with extraordinary warmth despite the pain and oppression they are enduring. On both sides, we heard the same question: Why should a faction or government define the beliefs and experiences of millions caught in this conflict?

Palestine was beautiful. It was also brutal to see people restricted, scrutinized, and surrounded by soldiers because of their nationality.
I’m leaving with fewer blanket statements and no easy answers. My friend and I found safety in each other while the world around us treated our religions as opposing sides. Both our faiths teach love and the value of human life. It’s painful to see people divided in their names.

I know what it meant to feel safe as a Jew. I also know that true safety cannot be built on another people’s fear or suffering. Both truths will stay with me.

Misinformation is dangerous. Please don’t let this conflict turn you toward antisemitism or Islamophobia. by @hashtag_blehssed

During the Rosh Hashana sermon today, our Rabbi said, “Memory is a deeply religious act.” As we head into the first Jewish year without Brian—and into an unknown where so much of the world feels out of control in the worst ways—I’m holding tightly to that sentiment.

I’m remembering the values I was raised with, the ideals this country was founded on, and the hope that has driven people across the world to imagine and fight for something better. I’m choosing to root myself in the memory of the resistance, courage, and sacrifice that brought us to the best parts of where we are today—and to remember that none of that progress was inevitable. People chose to act.

So I’m heading into the New Year choosing hope and action over despair and paralysis. Choosing to believe that what we do now can become the memories that guide those who come after us.

Shana Tova, in the truest sense of the phrase. May the year ahead be good. And may every memory that forged the path here be a blessing.

A weekend full of celebrating family. ❤️
@kathyspinner turned XX, and my grandmother turned 90. I don’t take for granted how lucky I am to be surrounded by such strong, resilient women.

After two weeks on the road exploring the country, there was something really special about ending the trip back in my hometown with the people who raised me, shaped me, and made me who I am. It felt like the perfect way to close out an incredible journey.
And as always, getting time with @instamillman —my best friend of more than 30 years—and her family was the cherry on top.

This country is such a frustrating dichotomy. A gorgeous absolutely diverse and breathtaking landscape filled with good people run by a corrupt and hateful administration.

Feeling very grateful to have spent the past 2 weeks falling in love with parts of the country I’ve never seen, and remembering that we’re bigger than the nightmare we’re collectively living through.

Heading to NY with a full heart and way too much luggage.
