My AC was out for the ENTIRE month of July- and I honestly don’t know how I made it- but I even managed to do several shows, get a mystical lost dog back home, survive an explosive vom/💩 combo and live to perform a bit about it, audition a lot (while dabbling sweat between takes) do several badazz photo gigs and look a little cute sometimes (a true miracle)

Thank god it’s august and the AC repair team just pulled upppp.

🚨 A Life in the Gaps: Meeting John Makumbi 🇺🇬Meet 65-year-old John Makumbi, living in Kilyanungu village, Mubende District, Uganda.When our team visited John, we found him living inside a shelter hastily built from leftover timbers. The walls are filled with massive gaps—empewo emufuuwa ekiro (the freezing cold wind blows right through his walls at night), leaving him completely exposed to the elements. To make matters worse, John endures daily physical torment—evviivi limuluma nyo (he suffers from severe, debilitating knee pain) and desperately needs professional medical attention.Thanks to our immediate relief efforts, we were able to provide John with emergency food, sugar, soap, and salt. While these basic items offer temporary comfort, John’s situation requires a sustainable, permanent solution.He urgently needs: 🏠 Secure, weatherproof shelter. 🩺 Medical evaluation and pain management. 🍉 Consistent food security and clothingAt care view foundation, our mission is to stand in the gaps for the most vulnerable members of our community. I stood in line outside Pride and Progress on June 6th, my first Pride event in almost two years, quietly running the numbers on whether I still belonged there.

Melissa read my face before I said a word. Walk in like everyone’s on their best behavior, she told me. I believed her.

Inside, Zack found me and said something I wasn’t ready to believe yet: you always have a seat at my table.

It took three more weeks, and one belonging dinner, before I caught up to what he meant.

I wrote the whole thing down. Twenty-three months of convincing myself this community had erased me, and what happened when a room full of people quietly decided the loudest version of that story wasn’t the last one.

The room is what made the night. The importance here and now in the South: @glaad brought Pride and Progress to Nashville because the need here is sharpest. Tennessee has passed more laws restricting LGBTQ+ rights than any state in the country since 2015. Nationally, more than 1 in 3 LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered suicide in the past year, and among transgender and nonbinary youth in Tennessee that number is 58%. The hopeful part is just as proven. One accepting adult in a young person’s life makes them 40% less likely to attempt suicide, and people who simply see LGBTQ+ lives reflected in media are measurably more likely to support equality. Visibility is not vanity. It keeps people alive.

The Nashville family that shows up for everything. The people who keep doing this work whether anyone is watching or not.
