This piece is about the macro- and microbiome of the queer club. My relationships with this kind of space is fraught, because while they are invaluable places of community and celebration, I also got covid for the first time there, which harmed me and changed my body forever.
Love you anyway Precinct 💗

"Breathholders" work series from midterms last semester. 🫧

What makes a thing organic? Rubber from trees is refined into latex. Stones from the earth are extracted, sluiced into copper and solder alloys. Plant matter is processed into cellulose, then into methyl cellulose, then used as lubricant, false tears, saliva: the fluids of our bodies.
Latex skins are filled, tied, stretched, they bulge and squish through wrought constraints. Gestation of breath and slime, trapped in form, trapped in form, pry it open, stuff it in, cradled and confined.

Materials list: steel & copper wire, solder, borosilicate glass, LED lights, latex, water, methyl cellulose, breath

My first foray into using found glass ✨ also one of the most fragile things I have ever made by far 😅
Many hours of scavenging pieces of broken glass from city sidewalks went into this piece!

these are from last year but i still love them. My final for advanced wheel in undergrad 🌟💫✨
I wanted to reference the historical function of decorative porcelain (in european contexts) and gold leaf (in japanese contexts) to reflect and shine light in a room, while also conveying some of the awe and wonder I feel when I look up at the starry night sky. 🌌🌟💫⭐️✨
