Part 2: Over the summer I challenged myself to photograph as many artists in their studios as possible. It was important to me to make each portrait as authentic to the artist as possible, trying to translate the colors, themes, materials, and space in each artists’ work to the photographic composition.

I photographed twenty artists. Two favorites each from the final ten pictured here.

PULP Collective’s show Pitted: Home at the heart of an Empire will be on display at @_area405_ in good ole Baltimore until November 21st! Thank you so much to @minasarfaraz & @nadianazar for curating such an incredible show and creating a space for all of us to make work we are really proud of. I feel super honored and grateful to be apart of this show and this collective with so many people I admire and love.

My newest work, You’re So Real, You’re So Cool (Sekou, Zuri,Almeda), is a triptych of three figures that represent the 20+ year experience of finding, losing, and rediscovering one’s self on the internet.

Inspired by adolescent dress up games and social media avatars, I try to make sense of my own feelings towards the performance of self online and how that bleeds into who we are IRL.
