Earth Medicine Day at Hawk + Horse 🪶

Women gather around the medicine wheel in the Mojave Desert. Welcoming the directions, elements and Spirit. Connecting to Mama Earth and each other we will create a ceremonial container under the vast desert sky.

Horse Medicine 🪶
We will commune with the horses as sentient beings. Grounded and connected to earth + spirit they have a way that is mystical and magical.
Wren will guide the group to interact with them in a connected and embodied way.
Our mares, Sunny + Epona are seasoned medicine horses ready to meet you where you are.

Salve making with desert plants will be held within the larger container of Earth Medicine Day. A ritual in place-based medicine making, we will tap into our relationship with the Mojave Desert. Together, we will sit in a landscape meditation and learn
how to make an herbal salve with Creosote, Juniper, and Pinyon Pine. Guests will learn to work with each plant topically and listen to them through sensory experience as a way of
interpretation and study. This oﬀering weaves plant intelligence, hands-on creation, intuition, and our innate connection to Earth.
Lia will guide you to make and take a 2 oz. tin of Desert Salve.

Wren of Hawk + Horse Ranch in Yucca Valley will be your guide at the medicine wheel and the immersion with the horses.
Wren is a shamanic practitioner, equine facilitated wellness guide and ceremonialist.

Lia aspen of Rio Madre Herbals is a Clinical Herbalist and Naturalist stewarding the living connections to body and Earth.
She will guide salve making with desert plants.

Earth Medicine Day is a 3 hour journey with the land, plants, horses and each other.

Hawk + Horse ranch is a 7 acre healing sanctuary in the Mojave Desert. We exist to provide a place to connect to nature and self. A place to be, find peace and rest. To seek clarity and well-being.

Our horses, Sunny and Epona serve alongside Wren, an intuitive guide, horse medicine woman, ceremonialist and shamanic practitioner.

A beautiful gathering of women grounding in with the horses ~ receiving, allowing, being.
Taking the medicine to the clay. Infusing the earth with what was received. Hands molding and shaping. Connecting and enjoying each other and the desert landscape.

Do the thing even if it scares you!

I’ll admit I was a lil scared. Excited too. We had talked about it for a long time. @mojave_mike65 has been riding for years. We decided to do a short ride, to Desert Bingo in Pioneertown. One of the most scenic drives in the area. It did not disappoint.

We rode home under the stars, an almost full moon and lightning in the distance.

Gotta love desert livin!

Wild mustangs 🐴🪶

I felt the call to go to them on my birthday in 2022. So I went. I had an extraordinary encounter that first visit. I felt connected to them in some way. It’s unexplainable, a felt sense.

To witness horses in the wild living free is simply amazing. They are social, peaceful beings who live in herds with their family.

The stallions (boys) are usually pushed out of the family band when they are around 3 years old. They usually join up with other bachelors and form their own band.

I’ve been visiting this same herd since 2022. They are so special to me.

My friend, “Roanie Boy” is now a spunky bachelor. I have yet to see him this year but I’m heading out there soon. I know we will find each other.

These American icons deserve to live wild and free on public lands. We must speak up for them.

The gift of gathering 🪶

On a hot August night, twelve women gathered in the desert for an evening of connection and creativity. All entrepreneurs, ages spanning 20’s to 70’s.

Women I met in the desert, all drawn here for their own reasons. The desert has a way of calling you. We unite in her mystery.

Artists, writers, healers, dancers, chefs and teachers - maidens, mothers and crones all conversing and communing, laughing and enjoying one another. This is what I dream of. This is what is needed.

It was so much more than a dinner, it was community, love and depth. It was witnessing, connecting and seeing ourselves in each other. It was knowing that we are not alone. Far from it.

I love women and what we bring to this world. We need each other. Women supporting women. Walking alongside each other.

Gather together dear ones, you will be better for it.

Our golden girl, heart healer and grounding queen. She was the one who came into my life when I desperately needed her. I wasn’t looking for a horse but she found me. She has helped so many others too. She’s a gem with a true heart of gold. 💛
