The psychology behind pursuing a craft based on the insatiable need for validation of your life experience from other people who are in the same boat but with bigger holes is really a trip. Anyway, here’s my new reel. Some tv shows, some movies, and I’m just really grateful to be so unabashedly committed to my goals that I still put myself out there for critique and judgement. I am speechless. Just learned that I won BEST ACTOR at the @cittadorofilm festival in Vienna Austria and this is what they wrote about my performance. Thank you jurors for recognizing our work. And thank you @delshores and @emersoncollins for directing TF out of this short film I wrote that became something so vulnerable and so scary to tell. Y’all supported this vision from day 1 and then you didn’t flinch when I said, “everything is changing.” My sweet, open, sexy scene partner @alexander19p held space for my chaos and allowed me to fall in love with his character so safely and so quickly. “Shafted” has been such a gift this past year seeing how audiences respond to it all over the world. But the real gift is that I get to share these accolades with other artists that I love and respect. This entire creative team allows me to do what I do. Just so freaking thankful. My acting teacher @jeffreymarcus has believed in me almost longer than anyone else in this city and has worked exhaustively to make me see something in me that I never saw myself. My friend @jgilsig helped me figure out how to tell this story when I had a breakdown over the previous inauthenticity of this script. My EP’s @stuarthowellbell, @crvttwmn, @lulupigg, and @jlaveck wrote checks to make sure I could tell this story. And the SCORES of donors that are a part of this and helped cover the enormous costs of creating a movie. Thank you thank you thank you. Love yall. by @hayesonit

Here’s a little poem about betrayal. ✍️

As a #raver, I got pentameter in my bones baby. 🤣

Thank yall for your incredibly kind messages of support. I am great. I am happier than I’ve been in years. And it’s because of the people that held me during the darkest chapter of my life, which spanned my time dealing with his “cancer” and healing from the cancer that IS him.

I’m here to tell you that there is another side from where you are right now. Healing from betrayal isn’t linear. It’s messy. You’ll drink too much. Gain or lose weight. And probably lose some friends along the way. GIVE YOURSELF GRACE. ❤️‍🩹

Faking cancer was just the tip of the iceberg.

Before him, I didn’t believe in god. Now, because of him, I do believe in the devil.

A year ago TODAY, after finally listening to my gut, I told my now EX husband that I needed to see documented proof that he had been diagnosed with cancer.

Crickets.

That was the last time I heard his voice.

So began the healing process of wondering how I could be so stupid, to regaining the light that had been stolen, to now committed to his justice and helping others heal from betrayal.

I am so thankful for all of you who got me through this year. As of today, I am a single man. A gay divorcee.

And I’m here to show that you don’t get to behave this way and get away with it.

Like i said, faking cancer was just the tip of the iceberg. Stay tuned for more as the week progresses. It’s a celebration (throughout Oz 🧙‍♀️).
