Meet Mat Hayes - the RO Storyteller. “The man behind the Gram.” It may be a Surrogacy podcast but we talk about everything involving making your impact. 💪💚💫

This clip discusses the moment @officialsierraboggess made a HUGE impact on @hayesonit while he was seeing her in a production of The Little Mermaid. It’s why his friends call him Ariel to this day! 🧜‍♀️

SIROCCO 🌪️

🧠: Choreography — @dillonlehman & @jennyoehlwein
🎥: @hayesonit the one and only

A desert wind. Heat, chaos, passion.

When we first started creating to this song we did not know the meaning of it. Some research and given a desert on our recent trip, here we go.

Through connection, tension, and the push and pull between two bodies; we resist and surrender to the desert 🌪️

Today is Donor Advised Fund Day, and we wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Because of donors like you, the Del Shores Foundation keeps supporting queer and Southern storytellers, and keeps putting those stories in front of the audiences who need them.

If you have a Donor Advised Fund, you can make a big impact with a simple step: recommend a grant to the Del Shores Foundation.

Why give through your DAF?
• It’s easy. Log in to your DAF sponsor’s platform, search for the Del Shores Foundation, and submit your grant recommendation.
• It can be tax-smart. If you fund your DAF with appreciated assets like stock, you may be able to avoid capital gains while supporting the causes you love. (Please check with your tax advisor about your own situation.)
• It goes further. Your grant helps us develop new work, support emerging artists, and keep Southern and queer voices on stage and screen.

Our details for your grant recommendation:

Legal name: Del Shores Foundation
EIN: 84-2050488
Mailing address: 301 N Palm Canyon Ste 103 #189

Okay Friends, podcast guests, and entertainment critics buddies…. last minute decision to get the heck out of dodge here in NE Ohio and head to the beach..... In California.

I will be road tripping it, starting tomorrow with stops in Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas and then Palm Springs and L.A. and Santa Clara/San Jose area for a week or two.

(Also on a budget so accepting couches to crash on for a night or two)

GALECA and Studio friends, let me know if there are any industry screenings of entertainment venues I should be checking out.

Podcast friends, I hope we can do that coffee we have always talked about and some in-person catch-ups. Looking forward to seeing you all.....Scott

Dance & the Desert 🌵

When I first came to Palm Desert CA last fall, I knew this special place had a hold on me. For a while I’ve been manifesting my creative journey making its way to the other coast.

So when my good friend @cristina.mckeever asked me to come teach a dance residency, I said “say less.” Never underestimate the way the universe listens to an aligned and authentic heart.

The same goes with my journey in AZ. It has been a goal and an important one at that, to start building relationships with dance here. Any excuse to come see my family and squeeze my nephews, am I right? If anyone would like to connect me to studios out here in the future- I would love you forever. (Although I probably already do)

Needless to say, I am beyond grateful for my western adventure and the chapter that’s starting to be written. The last 10 days have filled my creative cup in ways I didn’t know I was lacking. 2 incredible new pieces, hours of classes, and endless laughs along the way. Thank you dancers, thank you dance, thank you desert.

I also need to thank the humans who made this possible @cristina.mckeever for aligning this. @alexes.hudson for trusting me to create on your kiddos. @hayesonit for being my best friend for over a decade and always giving me a space on the west coast to lay my head. And last but certainly not least @dillonlehman - you did not have to say yes to this creative journey with me this year, but damn am I glad you did. I most certainly had more fun doing this with you partner. I can’t wait for what comes next.

Stay weird. Stay wild. & wiggle on. You know I will 😜

Golden hour rehearsal @aztecartsacademy.dance - clearly I didn’t have any fun 😜

@artandsoulink asked me to dance. I said “say less”. Thankful they helped my brother and I honor our late brother Kurt Oehlwein ❤️‍🩹

You’re already planning another California road trip before the weather even THINKS about changing.

Because apparently the best way to deal with the end of summer is to simply… refuse to accept it.

California sunshine, open roads, spontaneous adventures, and maybe a lightsaber for protection along the way. What could possibly go wrong?

So here’s the important question: If you could jump in the car tomorrow for one last summer road trip, WHERE are you going? Drop your destination in the comments!

Thank you, Palms Springs. I feel alive again in a way I hadn’t for a minute. I didn’t take many pics, but I was too busy ENJOYING what living feels like. Mat, thank you for sharing your time and community with me and pushing me out of my comfort zone. Love love love you, my dear friend.

There are some people who feel like celebrities, and then there are people who feel like home. For me, Dolly has always been home. 🤍🦋

My first trip to Dollywood was in 1988, when my mom was pregnant with me. Fourteen years later, my very first job was at Dollywood. I was raised on Dolly’s music, and I still remember wearing out High and Mighty on my mom’s CD.

Growing up in Sevier County, Dolly was never just some famous person from Tennessee. She was our hometown girl. I got to see firsthand how much she gave back to the community and how deeply she cared about the place and people she came from. I even met my best friend because of Dolly and Dollywood and almost 20 years later, he’s still my best friend. I even spent our senior skip day at Dollywood. I’ve shot commercials there, gotten to know some of Dolly’s family personally, and have had so many pieces of my life connected back to her.

Being from Sevier County, just like Dolly, has always made me incredibly proud. She showed us that you can leave your hometown and become a legend without ever forgetting where you came from.

For years, I’ve had this little habit I never really thought much about until now. I see Dolly everywhere. A sign, a mural, a button, a little piece of memorabilia and I almost always stop and take a picture. I have hundreds of these little Dolly sightings saved on my phone. I guess I’ve been collecting pieces of her without realizing how much they meant to me.

Dolly was the first celebrity I’ve ever truly cried over losing. I think that says everything.

She wasn’t just an icon to me. She was part of my childhood, my career, my friendships, my hometown, and my memories with my mom. In so many ways, she’s part of my story.

And to all of my friends and family who reached out, told me I was the first person they thought of when they heard the news, and checked on me because they knew how much this would hurt..thank you. It meant more than you probably realize. Knowing the people I love understood what she meant to me made this loss feel a little less lonely.

Queen Dolly forever. 🦋🤍
Our hometown girl, always.
