A look back at Voices of Denim: A Living Cultural Language 💙👖

On Thursday, 24 September, we joined the preview at Casa degli Artisti for an exclusive tour of the exhibition led by @tamumcpherson and @symbiosity .

Born from the collaboration between @afro_fashion_association and @levis , Voices of Denim explores denim as a cultural language through the work of emerging BIPOC talents across fashion design, photography, visual arts, cinema, styling, curation, sound and design.

From memory and movement to identity, resistance and transformation, the exhibition brings together powerful stories and creative perspectives, showing just how much meaning can live within a piece of denim.

For Spring Summer 2027, @ermannoscervino takes us somewhere between the Mediterranean coast, a pirate’s journey and an old summer film.

We love how the collection turns these familiar elements into something new - a doctor’s bag in hand-dampened nappa, wicker baskets, crocheted raffia, denim totes embroidered with palm trees, and footwear mixing cork, leather and woven raffia.

A little Mediterranean, a little cinematic, a little wild.

We came for the jewellery and ended up watching water, sound and silver become part of the same story.

For Ammonite, London-based jewellery designer @_octi looks at the way water slowly reshapes fossils, translating those eroded surfaces and ancient spirals into silver, sapphires and fluid forms.

But the presentation took the idea further: sculptural instruments, dripping silver finger caps and live cymatics turned sound into something you could almost see and touch.

A beautiful reminder that jewellery can carry much more than decoration, sometimes, it can preserve a moment.

We are still obsessed with the details from @erdem SS27 - the feathers, crystals, lace, sharp tailoring and all those little contrasts.✨
The collection takes us back to Barbette, the 1920s trapeze artist who became famous in Paris for moving between masculine and feminine identities on stage. Nearly 100 years later, that tension became the starting point for Erdem’s collection.

We discovered Rhea in Copenhagen over brunch, and ended up talking about something we haven’t explored much before: how transparent can a garment actually be?

@rheastore.official traces its pieces through raw materials, spinners, mills and production, while each garment comes with a digital product passport that lets you access its journey through a QR code.
