Nothing says “I’ve got my life together” like scraping frost off a windscreen at 7am with a Nectar card, while your neighbour’s car sits there bone dry.

Ours sit under solid oak, open at the sides and covered where it counts. The roof takes the rain, the leaves, the bird poo and the frost, and the open sides let the air through so there’s no damp, no condensation and no musty garage smell.

Same hand-cut, pegged oak frame as our houses, just without the walls getting in the way.

The clocks go back in a fortnight. Get the de-icer? Or get on the phone to us.

We love HR and formal processes in this company! Nothing says ‘I value you’ more than a 14 step process to request a new pair of gloves.

Similarly, you just can’t beat a mandatory 40 minute training video on how to stand near a ladder. 🪜
The problem is, you’re probably just not handling it right.

For example, when you’re pulled up for a quick chat in the office, we think you should handle it like Lew did. Better yet, get the door without even being asked first! Good manners, good initiative.

Email saying that HR heard about your hilarious joke at the Christmas party and now want to hear it themselves? Well we’re still figuring out a way around that one... we’re thinking shoulders back, chest out and own it.

Think we’re onto something? You should see our work when HR aren’t bothering us. www.hboakframes.com.

A beautiful collaboration between @HB_Oakframes, @the_outdoor_kitchen_collective and @Riva_building_ltd ✨

Together, we’ve created a unique outdoor space for relaxing and entertaining at a private residence in Henley-on-Thames.

Thank you to everyone involved for bringing this vision to life! 🙌

Some things belong together. Oak framing and cooking over fire? Turns out, it’s a bloody good combination.

This Henley-on-Thames project features one of our oak frames alongside a bespoke outdoor kitchen from @the_outdoor_kitchen_collective, and the two work ridiculously well together.

The project was recently revisited and captured in all it’s glory, and you can see why. Beautiful oak, a seriously impressive outdoor kitchen, and plenty of space to do what really matters: cook some good food in the fresh air.

We have @riva_building_ltd to thank for bringing us onto this job and always enjoy working closely alongside them due to the high level of detail that goes into all their jobs. This one was no exception!

Also a big thanks to the team at The Outdoor Kitchen Collective for sharing these shots with us. 📷

They specialise in high-end bespoke outdoor kitchen design, providing expert planning and installation to create spaces for cooking, entertaining and relaxing all year round. Delivering bespoke projects across the UK, it’s worth a visit to see their 3,200 square ft. show-barn and design studio in St Albans 👀.

Visitors can book an appointment via their website or simply stop by in person. (www.theoutdoorkitchencollective.co.uk).

And as always, If you’re wondering about turning your garden from neglected plot to outdoor haven, get in touch with us over at www.hboakframes.com. From BBQ to full kitchen frames - our work speaks for itself. 💪🪵

Nobody told us ‘being a professional’ was such hard work. Lew’s still in the ICU (Jks, his head is hard as nails).

Anyway here we are. 20+ years of experience, making the competition cry, churning out mortice and tenon joints that have outlasted empires... and we still have to film a video proving we’re professionals. The audacity.

Ultimately, if you need a bespoke oak framed garage, carport, pergola, porch or house extension built by people who are DEFINITELY professionals (we have many videos which show it), head over to www.hboakframes.com. We’ll be waiting. Professionally.

What’s better than doing the washing up? A beer in your garden/games room. Don’t drink beer? Shame on you. Instead, how about building that home office you keep promising yourself?

Say no more. Swipe through to see this bespoke oak-framed garden room in all its glory. 🪚

Whether it’s a tranquil work-from-home sanctuary, a peaceful garden view on an autumn morning, or a haven for the boys once a week, we design and craft every timber frame to outlast anything else in your life - trust us!

Using slow grown French oak, thicker beams than competitors and traditional framing techniques from medieval ages, you’re about as far away from flatpack as it gets. Our frames are with you for life and only toughen with time.

They say glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Ours throws shade at every other porch/extension on the street. 🪟

And YES, we know you were expecting our usual nonsense in reel-form this evening, but we’ve taken a week’s break; we’re on holiday 🍻 Instead, we’ve hit you with this stunning build right in time for the autumn vibes.

Take a look at this full-sized glass porchway offering floor-to-ceiling glazing, triangular gable windows, a solid oak door with a handle that costs more than your neighbour’s entire porch, and warm golden light flooding through at every hour of the day.

Built on a brick dwarf wall, framed in premium slow-grown French oak, and integrated so seamlessly into the existing house that it looks like it was always meant to be there.

If your house is crying out for more light, more space, and frankly more character, we’re the ones to call. See more of our work at www.hboakframes.com

We didn’t build him a home office. We built him an exit. 😏 You see, therapists charge £80 an hour to help you cope with your family. We built this for a one-off fee and it works better.

Nobody actually tells you that “working from home” mostly means being interrupted every four minutes and eating lunch standing up in the kitchen while someone asks where the Sellotape is. This client solved it the smart way: forty feet of driveway, a solid oak frame, and a door that locks. Family still love him. They just love him from a distance now.

Some marriages survive on compromise. Others survive on square footage. See more garden studio builds at www.hboakframes.com.

6, 7? We’d rather do upleasant things in our hands and clap.

You see it’s not that we don’t appreciate the younger generation, it’s just that it’s easier to train a phone to answer itself.

Sure we’ve all done soul destroying onboarding and inductions but good God man, this is hardly operating heavy machinery.

As (slightly older) members of the workforce we’ll respond in the only way we know how...

“Could you just find Barry and ask him for the ‘long weight’ please?”... “No, we need the Glass Hammer for this one, have a look in the van”... “Left-handed screwdriver please mate. No, the LEFT-HANDED ONE.”

It’s simple, it’s been done, but it’s enough to get round that generation. No cap.

There are some things we all know are better when they’re exposed. Argentina’s football team, most supermodels, our politicians’ tax returns... The list goes on.

Best of all? Oak beams overhead.

This open canopy runs a full oak frame from post to ridge, hand cut and pegged, no bolts hiding under a fascia board. Open rafters like this let you show off the joinery instead of boxing it in behind plasterboard, so every mortice and tenon on display is doing real structural work, not just looking pretty. It also means no flat roof to worry about in ten years’ time. Oak just gets better with age, unlike most driveway canopies.

Fancy something you can walk under and actually admire, rather than just park under? See more builds like this at www.hboakframes.com.

There are some things we all know are harder to do with your left hand.

For example, taking your anger out.

You see we have a new site policy: left-handed anger only. It saves us money!

Lew squared up like he was about to relocate a hammer to another postcode, remembered the rules... and the throw landed with all the strength of a man posting a letter.

Turns out fury has a dominant hand, and it isn’t the one HR approved.

Follow for more site chaos, and see the actual good work we do (with both hands) at www.hboakframes.com.
