A look back at the Horticulture Business Challenge (HBC) Alumni gathering, where alumni came together for a day of business development, peer learning, networking and community building.

From strengthening business models and value propositions to exploring AI, partnerships and new opportunities, the day was about helping alumni grow their businesses and strengthen their connections.

The gathering also created space for alumni to share ideas on shaping a more active, connected and sustainable HBC community.

🌱 HBC 2026 | Week 8

The final week of the Horticulture Business Challenge (HBC) 2026 wrapped up an incredible journey of learning, collaboration, and innovation.

Participants presented their final solutions, submitted internship reports, and handed over project deliverables developed for their host companies.

To round off the programme, the cohort visited Hendy Farms in Dodowa 🍃
From orchard tours to fruit processing facilities, participants explored how fresh mangoes are transformed into dried snacks, jams, hot sauces, popsicles, and frozen fruit products, all made without artificial preservatives.

The visit also highlighted Hendy Farms’ strong commitment to sustainability through solar-powered irrigation and solar drying 🌞

A big thank you to Hendy Farms for the warm welcome and for sharing such valuable industry insights.

As HBC 2026 comes to a close, we celebrate growth, impact, and the power of industry collaboration. 💚

The Horticulture Business Challenge (HBC) 2026 gave participants hands-on experience working on real industry challenges within Ghana’s horticulture sector across agritech, digital marketing, and market access.

This spotlight features the teams, their host organisations, and the impact they created.

The team consisting of Litela Adjoa Quanson, Richard Yennunam Laarison, and Kwame Frimpong were assigned to the Horticulture Business Platform (HBP), where they worked on developing market access and a functional sales framework for a demo farm at WASS in Adenta.

They focused on identifying off-takers, structuring sales pathways, and supporting data collection for scalability. By weeks 4–5, they had built traceability systems, supported farm activities, and engaged potential partners ahead of harvest.

The Horticulture Business Challenge (HBC) 2026 provided a hands-on platform for young professionals to engage with real projects within Ghana’s horticulture sector. Working with industry partners, participants explored agritech solutions, digital marketing, market access, and sustainable agriculture practices.

This spotlight features the teams, their host organisations, and the impact they delivered.

Participants: Dennise Selasi Fevlo, Dauda Mohammed Ali, and Bernard Asihene.

At Verte Tower, a Ghana-based hydroponics startup developing affordable vertical farming systems for urban and peri-urban communities, the team supported market research and helped shape a sales expansion strategy for hydroponic modules. They also explored opportunities to scale communal vertical farming gardens and strengthen market reach.

The participants further conducted field prospecting across restaurants, malls, real estate developments, municipal assemblies, and community spaces to identify partnership opportunities and promote adoption of VT’s hydroponic solutions.

The Horticulture Business Challenge (HBC) 2026 brought together young professionals for an immersive learning experience within Ghana’s horticulture sector. Participants worked with industry partners on real challenges across agritech, digital marketing, market access, and sustainable agriculture.

Participants: Gideon Akoto, Frederick Nii Annan Otu-Afro, Ibrahim Arhin

At Holland Green Tech Ghana, the team focused on improving irrigation system monitoring and developing a structured after-sales service model. They also contributed to website development (front-end & back-end) and streamlined irrigation sales data to enhance operational efficiency.

This placement provided hands-on experience in solving real business challenges while supporting digital transformation in Ghana’s agriculture sector.

Last week, our HBC participants joined Holland Green Tech at the Defarmercist Centre of Excellence for a hands-on training experience focused on modern horticulture practices.

From greenhouse tours and sustainable vertical farming discussions to practical sessions on nursery bed preparation and drip irrigation installation, participants gained valuable skills and insights from industry experts. 💡🌱

The journey continues, and so does the learning.
