🟠 Float hunt update! 39 have been found; 11 are still out there; 50 more will be added this Saturday the 12th! Tom & I are about to tag this new batch - he’s been an amazing helper, as you can see. @tom_selleck_the_cat

Hint: The remaining 11 are all indoors. (But for the love of all that’s good in the world, please do not go into businesses and start tearing through their cabinets and/or back offices!) A few of these places are obscure.

It’s getting real! Floats are going into their nets and then we’ll attach the tags. As you can see, @tom_selleck_the_cat is taking his role as supurrvisor seriously!

Beginning Saturday, August 5th, the West Seattle Junction Association and West Seattle Chamber of Commerce invite everyone to search for glass floats hidden throughout West Seattle. Fifty floats will be hidden on August 5th, with 50 more the morning of Saturday, August 12, 2023. A total of 100 floats will be hidden both indoors – in beloved local businesses – and outdoors in public spaces.

Each 2023 glass float is individually hand blown by Avalon Glassworks in stunning red and yellow hues reminiscent of West Seattle sunsets. Each 4-inch sphere is stamped with a heart and “WS” on the sealing button. Float hunters should look high and low for colorful round balls peeking out through the mesh of a knotted net bag. Labels encourage the lucky finders to register the float, as well as tag the local business where it was discovered on social media.

As part of the celebration of the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce’s 100th Anniversary, the Chamber has challenged the West Seattle Junction Association to the first ever Battle for West Seattle. The Battle for West Seattle is a charity softball game hosted by The DubSea Fish Sticks at The Fryer. The softball teams are made up of amateur players from local West Seattle businesses. Come out to cheer on your favorite nonprofit or business!

The profits raised from The Battle For West Seattle will be donated to the West Seattle and White Center Food Banks.
