POSTS STORIES REELS

I’ve never formally introduced myself and shared my story, so I wanted you to get to know the human behind the white coat.

I’m Dr. Dang, a licensed naturopathic doctor, that specializes in female health and longevity. I became a naturopathic doctor specifically because I was never given the care I needed. I had health issues in my teens that forced me to read medical textbooks since no doctor would listen to me. Instead of getting to to the root cause of my health concerns, I was left with 3 minutes with the doctor and a prescription. No conversation of why and no other option besides medication.

At age 13 I suffered from debilitating pain where doctors told me it was all in my head. At 15 I was given birth control for my acne and then almost lost vision in my eye. At 17 I was given anti-seizure medications because they couldn’t figure out why I kept fainting. I was so disheartened with the medical system that I became the doctor I always needed.

You name it, I’ve been through it - SIBO, h. Pylori, parasites, candida, food poisoning, food intolerances, PMOS, acne, hair loss, fainting episodes, panic attacks, heart palpitations. I know what it’s like to personally feel like my body is against me. I also know what it’s like to get to the root cause of all of them with proper testing, the correct diet and supplementation.

I know what it’s like to be gaslit, to be dismissed, to be told I don’t “look” like I would have the condition, when in reality I did (heyo all my lean PMOS girlies). I know what it’s like to know inherently in my body there was a reason I was feeling this way, and that I didn’t want to take a pill to cover up the symptoms.

I am the type of doctor that will truly go to the ends of the earth for my patient. I will be cheering you on in every milestone. I’m the doctor that will respect you, hear you, hold your hand every step of the way and support you. I’m the doctor that will always make sure your treatment plans are safe, evidence based and tailored just to you.

Did you know the location of your acne can potentially indicate the root cause of it?

Face mapping has been used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as a way to connect different areas of the face with the body’s internal systems. While modern scientific evidence doesn’t support face mapping as a diagnostic tool, it can offer a holistic perspective and encourage you to pay attention to patterns.

Your skin is influenced by many factors, including hormones, skincare habits, stress, diet, genetics, and overall health.

The haunted house is just being a woman in 2026 👻 by @healwithdrdang

Food is one of the most direct ways we can influence and manage hormones. With PCOS and PMOS it often shows up in the skin and hair first.

• Higher-fiber plates slow glucose spikes, which keeps insulin lower — and insulin drives the androgen activity behind breakouts, oily skin, and shedding.
• Protein at breakfast is the best way to keep blood sugar stable all day long.
• Cruciferous vegetables supports your bodies clearance of estrogen.
• Omega-3-rich foods — salmon, sardines, walnuts, flax — calm the inflammatory load in the body.
Spearmint tea helps with reducing androgen levels which directly contribute to oily skin, hair loss and acne.

It’s about small changes making a bigger impact.

I see this pattern in clinic every week. A woman in her late 30s tells me she feels like a stranger in her own body, and her labs say she is fine.

Here is what I want you to understand about the pre-perimenopause era.

It’s a slow progression, but it can feel like it hit you overnight.

What usually happens is: progesterone falls first because ovulation gets less consistent. Estrogen starts doing a little dance and taking the spotlight.

Testosterone and DHEA fade slowly in the background.

That combination explains why sleep, mood, periods, brain fog, and weight can all shift at the same time, while on paper everything looks normal.

Normal is based on a population range. Optimal is your individualized pattern over time.

That is why I do not read a single hormone number in isolation. I read your cycle history, your symptoms, and your baselines together.

The research backs up how early this burden shows up. In a 2025 Flo study of 4,432 US women aged 30 and over, 55.4% of women aged 30 to 35 and 64.3% of women aged 36 to 40 reported moderate to severe symptoms. Only about 8% of the 36 to 40 group had seen a doctor about it.

These symptoms overlap with other conditions, which is exactly why the pattern needs a proper workup, not a label from one post.

Start with the cheapest, highest-value step. Track for 3 months, then bring the pattern to a clinician who will read it with you.

📍Save this if you need the reminder and send it to a friend who needs to hear this.

Creatine is having a moment — about 250,000 searches a month in the US, up more than 150% in a year, and most of the conversation is happening among women in perimenopause and menopause.

As a supplement researcher, here’s my honest read of the research:

What it is. Creatine is a compound your body makes and stores in muscle (and brain) as quick-access energy.

You get some from meat and fish; most women eat less of both, and women’s baseline stores run lower than men’s.

What’s established. With resistance training, creatine monohydrate reliably improves strength and lean mass.

For women past 35 — when muscle starts quietly declining — this is the single most useful effect, because muscle is metabolic and bone insurance.

What’s emerging. The brain connection is why creatine is trending: creatine supports brain energy metabolism, and early studies (small ones — sleep-deprived women, cognitive testing) are promising.

Postmenopausal cognition is the frontier everyone’s watching.

The two main myths around creatine use have been debunked. No, it does not damage healthy kidneys — that’s been tested extensively. And no, it does not cause hair loss in women: that claim traces back to one small 2009 study in male rugby players measuring a hormone byproduct; it has never been replicated, and there is no female data behind it.

How I have patients use it. 1-2 scoops of creatine monohydrate, once a day, any time, with or without food.

The fancy forms (HCL, buffered, gummies at double the price) have no evidence advantage — monohydrate is the studied form.

Who should check first: anyone with kidney disease, and anyone pregnant — not because harm is shown, but because the data isn’t there.

Save this for when you are doing your next supplement haul 📍

I’m female longevity doctor, and medicine is just about to get obsessed with ovarian aging. and it’s about time.

your ovaries are more than reproductive organs. they’re central to fertility, hormone production, and the hormonal transitions that shape female longevity.

here’s what you need to know about ovarian health:

1. AMH: your ovarian reserve marker
anti-müllerian hormone estimates your pool of developing follicles. low amh can suggest diminished ovarian reserve, but it doesn’t measure egg quality or predict exactly when you’ll enter menopause.

2. look beyond to other hormones
FSH, LH and estradiol provide additional context about ovarian function. progesterone can help confirm ovulation, while an antral follicle count (afc) on ultrasound offers another estimate of ovarian reserve. cycle timing and symptoms matter when interpreting results.

3. support your mitochondria
egg cells depend on mitochondria for energy. nutrients involved in cellular energy and reproductive health include coq10, omega-3s, magnesium, b vitamins, zinc, selenium, iron when needed, and vitamins c, d and e. a nutrient-rich diet comes first; evidence that supplements slow ovarian aging or improve live birth rates remains limited.

4. build the foundations
prioritize adequate protein, healthy fats, colorful plants, resistance training, regular movement, restorative sleep and sufficient energy intake. avoid smoking, limit alcohol, and address thyroid disorders, insulin resistance and menstrual irregularities.

5. know what biomarkers can’t tell you
no single test reveals your complete ovarian age. amh doesn’t guarantee fertility, and no supplement has been proven to stop ovarian aging. age remains a major predictor of egg quality.

irregular periods, difficulty conceiving, or menopausal symptoms before 40 deserve medical evaluation. premature ovarian insufficiency requires proper assessment, not just an amh test.

the future of female longevity means understanding ovarian health earlier, interpreting biomarkers intelligently, and replacing fear with evidence.

Your gut already makes its own GLP-1, but not everyone knows how to.

It does it every time you eat. Specialized cells in your intestine release it in response to food, and it tells your brain you’re full, slows how fast your stomach empties, and helps your body handle blood sugar. The catch is that your native GLP-1 is broken down in a couple of minutes. An injectable dose is built to last about a week. That difference in duration is why a meal can support this system, but it can’t replicate a medication.

So the question I care about is how to give your gut the best signal to work with. Here is what the research points to:

Protein
Eggs, fish, Greek yogurt, poultry, lentils. Protein is one of the strongest dietary triggers for GLP-1 release, so build your plate around it first.

Fiber
Beans, chickpeas, oats, chia, flax, berries, artichokes. Gut bacteria ferment fiber into short-chain fatty acids, which signal those same intestinal cells to release GLP-1.

Bitter foods
Arugula, radicchio, dandelion greens, broccoli rabe. Your gut has bitter taste receptors, the same type found on your tongue, and activating them may nudge satiety hormones like GLP-1.

Bitter hop extract
Amarasate is a bitter hop extract that has early human research behind it for satiety. It’s an emerging area and the studies are small, so I treat it as a supportive tool, not a replacement for anything.

To be abundantly clear: this is not a substitute for Ozempic or any GLP-1 medication. If you’re prescribed one, please don’t change or stop it without talking to your prescriber. Food and supplements work with your physiology, and they won’t match what a medication does.

This is the biggest update to women’s health I’ve seen all year!

For 20 years, women were told hormone therapy was too risky to even consider.

This week, the main OB/GYN organization in the US said hormone therapy should be first-line treatment for hot flashes, night sweats, and the sleep disruption that comes with them.

ACOG hadn’t updated its menopause guidance in over ten years. The old advice was lowest dose, shortest time. That has changed.

A few months ago, the FDA removed most of the black box warning that had been sitting on estrogen since 2002. Put those two together and the conversation looks very different from the one most of us were trained to have.

What I want you to know:
* ACOG recommends starting before age 60 or within 10 years of menopause
* It is still individualized, so your history and risk factors matter
* Perimenopause counts as a reason to ask, especially when your sleep and your days are being wrecked
* Fatigue, hair thinning, and weight changes at this stage deserve a proper workup too, and hormones are only one piece of that picture

If you have been told to just tough it out, you were working from outdated guidance. Ask for the conversation, ask which labs make sense for you, and if your doctor won’t engage, you’re allowed to find one who will.
