Protecting the health of veterans and connecting civilians to the experience of military service.

POSTS STORIES REELS

@arkeeneauthor with a remarkable deep dive into the military history of 102-year old H&A Veteran Ambassador William Greason. This great article fills a huge gap in his public record. Really cool that Rev Greason is - after years of anonymity - the lead story on all military times websites. Reverend Greason, Mike Holt, Thom Craig, Pastor McGuire and the entire Bethel Baptist community have been incredible friends and partners since 2021. Please read and share! by @heartandarmor

Today at the Presidio, I joined #veterans, #firstresponders, City leaders, and community members to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the men and women who answered the call to serve in the years that followed. Thank you to the @heartandarmor and everyone who brought our city together.

I have tremendous respect for our veterans. Their commitment to service, sacrifice, and protecting others is something our public safety community understands deeply. Many veterans continue that service right here at home, including in law enforcement and other first responder roles.

We remember those we lost. We honor those who served. And we continue to stand with our veterans and first responders.

Members of the SF Symphony brass and percussion sections joined conductor Anthony Parnther in a performance as part of the Heart & Armor Foundation’s commemoration of the 25th anniversary of 9/11 in the San Francisco Presidio. by @heartandarmor

This morning I attended the @heartandarmor 25th Anniversary 9/11 memorial. We as a community mourned for the lives lost on that day, and reflected on the heroism shown by first responders and volunteers in the days after the tragedy.

Twenty-five years after September 11th, 2001, this anniversary serves as a reminder that we are strongest when we embrace service and selflessness towards each other. I was honored to listen to the veterans who spoke today and reminded us of that lesson.

We will always remember, and never forget. by @heartandarmor

Honoring the 25th Anniversary of 9/11
On September 11th, join the Heart & Armor Foundation alongside veterans, civic leaders, and neighbors at the Presidio’s Main Post (10:30–12:00pm) for a community commemoration recognizing those most impacted by 9/11. We will come together to remember the lives lost, honor those who have served, and reflect on a quarter century of change. Following the ceremony, veterans will lead participants in a service project to write cards of gratitude to our first responder, military, and veteran communities.

More than 110,000 U.S. veterans are currently living with Parkinson's disease. Certain factors associated with military service – including traumatic brain injury and exposure to toxic chemicals – can increase Parkinson's risk.

Supporting veterans living with or at risk for Parkinson's will take collaboration across organizations, researchers, advocates and communities.

We are deeply grateful to John Mayer and the Heart and Armor Foundation for bringing us together for an evening of conversation about strategic philanthropy and supporting veterans’ health. by @heartandarmor

What an honor to attend the @socialimpactfund awards and moderate a Q&A with @johnmayer & @gchoucroun of @heartandarmor about the important work they are doing to improve mental health outcomes for veterans!

Mental health has become deeply personal and professionally meaningful to me, especially as I continue working toward my master’s degree in psychology. The more I learn, the more I value organizations that go beyond awareness and invest in rigorous research, science, and evidence-based solutions. That is Heart & Armor. Their work is rooted in understanding what all veterans and their families actually need, asking better questions, and using research to help create more effective support. (I also love all the veterans putting their hearts into this organization - like @schwabonaut @katers916 @aundray_t_rogers and more)

The audience also got to hear about the incredible work the @realmikejfox Foundation is doing to learn more about Parkinson’s disease. Their executive director @debi_brooks says the organization has raised billions of dollars, made major discoveries, and hope to one day put themselves out of business with a cure.

The conversations were inspiring and HOPEFUL and meaningful. But, even the most significant conversations need a little levity, and John somehow ended up talking about bananas. 🍌 But because he’s an amazing storyteller it all made perfect sense. by @heartandarmor

#JohnMayer (@johnmayer) opens up about why he's passionate about advocating for veteran care through the Heart And Armor Foundation (@heartandarmor) at THR x Social Impact Fund's Social Impact Summit. by @heartandarmor

John Mayer (@johnmayer) has spent 15 years and $5 million backing research on PTSD and veterans health — but still finds time to make a little music.

Mayer's Heart and Armor Foundation (@heartandarmor), the veterans nonprofit he formally launched in 2019, has made him one of THR‘s Philanthropists of the Year alongside Stephen and Ayesha Curry and Michael J. Fox and co-founder Deborah W. Brooks.

“I found myself so moved by it right there on the spot when talking to someone who had a traumatic brain injury and understanding viscerally what that feels like to hear them speak,” Mayer says. “If you had asked me what PTSD was at the time, I would have given you a very narrow definition, but I never had the opportunity to even answer that question wrong. I just saw it, and I saw it in a very naked kind of way. I was moved by seeing people who speak beyond their injury.”

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Weekend 🇺🇸

This weekend, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave everything for this country. From generations past to those lost in recent service, their sacrifice is the foundation of the freedoms we live today.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend.
It is a time of reflection, gratitude, and honor.

To the fallen heroes who never made it home...
we remember you.
We honor you.
We thank you. 🇺🇸
